Swiss Waterpolo Friends –that’s who we are

Water polo is one of the fastest, most attractive and trendiest team sports. As the oldest Olympic team game, water polo was played in the Olympic Games, first held in 1900 as an Olympic discipline in Paris. Swiss Waterpolo is the umbrella organisation of the Swiss Water Polo Federation, which allows Water polo players to practice this dynamic team sport safely and effectively. Actively supports their further development. Swiss Water-polo promotes the division of the Swiss Swimming Federation in addition to competitive sports especially popular and youth sports:

- More than 4’100 members and nearly 1’500 licensed players and players are active under the umbrella of Swiss Waterpolo.

- More than 1’000 championship and cup games are held every year.

- This also includes the games of the pupils, youth and youth groups.

- Junior championships at national and regional level.

- There are national and regional championships for activeparticipants and a Swiss Water Polo Cup.

- The men’s national team, the women’s national team as well as various junior teams regularly take part in international tournaments and at the qualifying matches for the European Water Polo Championships.

- The Swiss Waterpolo association is strongly committed to the area of promoting young talents and continuously working on improvement the conditions for his young athletes.

- The focus will not only be on improving athletic performance, but also on personality development and the development of ability of the young people to work in a team.

- Many personalities from politics and business have had their careers last but not least, their experiences with this dynamic team sport.

Swiss Waterpolo Friends

Swiss Waterpolo Friends is an independent association with the aim of providing funds for the promotion of young people in the national water polo teams. Funding contribu-tions are currently flowing by Swiss Olympic and the Federal Office of Sport into the junior national teams. With this money, the costs for the international tournaments there will be three teams financed. Without additional resources, these teams will not be developed further. With the Swiss Waterpolo Friends, the patrons’ association Swiss Water-polo Friends should therefore ensure additional funds are generated each year to help the young people with the opportunity to gain experience at international level, to have access to money for the competitions.

Swiss Waterpolo Friends – These are our goals

The Swiss Waterpolo Friends patrons’ association has set up a new foundation group for the precious work of Swiss Waterpolo with the aim of promoting additional funding. The generated funds will be used entirely to promote the devel-opment of young sports talent.

The declared aim of the Swiss Waterpolo Friends is to pro-vide young people with funds to assist players financially in such a way that they can concentrate fully on the exercise of their sport. This includes, for example, the transfer of travel expenses for championship matches as well as national and international tournaments.

In addition, the training conditions are to be assessed by means of subsidisation Additional training times, sup-plementary training courses (e. g. strength training) or by expanding the training staff can be improved.

Swiss Waterpolo Friends – how to become a supporter

The Swiss Waterpolo Friends is an association in the terms of Art. 60 ff ZGB and aims at the non-profit organization pro-motion of youth Waterpolo development in Switzerland.

The patronage association is open to all those who wish to support the water polo and the young players are interested in water polo and support players in the exercise of their sport want to have.

Swiss Waterpolo Friends – our achievements

The Swiss Waterpolo Friends are regularly informed about the activities of Swiss Waterpolo. The Swiss Waterpolo Friends also maintain the social, athletic and friendly contact with each other.

Therefore, the benefactors will receive at least once a year an invitation to an event that is dedicated to the personal interests of the participants and is dedicated to communication.

Swiss water polo is a committed community, a family, in which loyalty, too, among the young players, a high level of professionalism and enjoys great importance. Water polo is therefore clearly more as «just» one sport among many.
