By Joe Mueller’s sister Pia
CHOIR SECTION We would like to ask all the former members of the Vancouver Swiss Choir to help us celebrate our 50th Anniversary. We will have cake and sing together. The choir has been busy practising and planning for its concert. The songs are chosen, the hall is rented and now all that is left is inviting you to come and celebrate with us. We will be performing with the Vancouver Dorfmusik and I'm sure we can find an alphorn or two as well. This will be a concert to remember. In May we are invited to Anna-Marie's house in Agassiz for a social potluck. The next performance of our choir will be at the Mulberry Park retirement home at the end of May. There is talk to take a trip with the outdoor club to Sunpeaks in summer. As you can see we do not only sing. If anybody would like to join us there is always room for more. Please do not hesitate to contact me. You do not have to be a perfect singer. All you need is an interest in music and love some fun time. Silvia Kinvig, president of the choir

SWISS OUTDOOR CLUB Ski Week in Sun Peaks Sunday, March 6th – Thursday, March 10th, 2016 our ski week in Sunpeaks, March 5 – 10, 2016, again was a success. A group of 19 Swiss Outdoors Club skiers and social supporters enjoyed good weather and excellent snow conditions. Nancy Greene and Alan Raine ( former owners of the Cahilty Lodge ) held a reception for us and visiting skiers from Quebec and Ontario and admired our Beat Heebe for his skills with he alphorn. Mind you, this year she didn’t try to blow the alphorn herself. At our group dinner at the PowderHound Restaurant Andy Huser brought his daughter Monica and relatives from Kamloops as additional back-up; so we were 23 persons at the dinner; of course that was fun ! Next year you might want to join in for snowshoeing.
Cheers. Joe

Hike to Whyte Lake This time the weather cooperated. On Saturday April 16, 2016, 15 hikers from the Swiss Outdoors Club met in Horseshoe Bay for the hike up to Whyte Lake. We did the 9.2 km round trip in 3 hours, faster than originally expected. Obviously our Club members are fit and the good weather did help. The beer at the Olive and Anchor Pub in Horseshoe Bay after the hike helped to restore our energy for the drive home. It was a good day. Attached find some photos. Photos and Text: Joe Mueller

VANCOUVER DORFMUSIK
Last Saturday evening, April 9, 2016 the Vancouver Dorfmusik had their 31st annual concert at the German Alpenclub in Vancouver. Like always, they entertained everyone with a variety of beautiful music. The concert was well attended. No one gets ever tired of listening to them and the thundering applause from the audience made the Dorfmusik play two encores.

Auslandschweizer Platz in Brunnen
