Character cornerGratitude! What does the word “Gratitude” mean to you? This question was asked last week as we started talking about Gratitude and being grateful. We read the story “Today I am Grateful” which is about a boy named Milo sharing all the things he is grateful for and explains why he is grateful. Then Beluga students shared out what they are grateful for in their lives.During writing Beluga student made a Gratitude Jar. Students learned about making a rough draft, having someone edit (the teacher) their work, making edits if needing to and then creating a final draft to be published (displayed). These beautiful pieces of writing are now hanging on our quality work board. I was SO impressed with the way each one turned out and the students were so proud of the quality work they completed!

MATH MONTHThis Thursday, November 19th will be a

math-themed spirit day. Students can wear anyshirt displaying math with uniform bottoms. This could be as simple as a jersey with numbers or a striped shirt representing patterns. In the past, some students decorated their own shirts with

math problems or numbers.

THE 50TH DAY of KINDERGARTENPart of our daily routine includes counting the days we’ve been in school. This gives children practice each day counting verbally, with one to one correspondence, and of course building number sense with tens and ones which will lead into place value. One of the milestones we celebrate with this activity is the 50th day of school! This will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, November 18th.Students may come to school in 1950’s style spirit wearincluding leather jackets, poodle skirts, patent leather saddle shoes, etc to wear that day OR they may bring 1950’s clothes to change into.

Disguise Mr. Turkey! This choice project is due tomorrow, Wednesday, November 18th.
