The 2011 Print Solutions Conference and Expo, PSDA’s annual conference, is the most important event of the year for

distributors and channel partners who provide print and managed services to businesses. In fact, of all the large print and related industry shows, this is the only event focused on supporting printing professionals who provide print, marketing, and related services through independent distribution to end-user customers.

This year’s conference, May 17–19, is centrally located on Chicago’s Navy Pier, features highly relevant education and showcases the latest in print innovation from more than 200 exhibitors. Whether you are a business printer, graphic designer, agency, software company — or provider or buyer of print, marketing and related services — there’s no better place to get this type of exposure to print innovations and custom education.

This year’s education program has something for everyone, whether you are a principal or a sales, customer or technology professional.

Top-Notch Education As a direct result of PSDA member companies asking for a greater emphasis on education and peer-to-peer learning, the first day of the 2011 Print Solutions Conference and Expo — Tuesday, May 17 — features interactive workshops focusing on topics that are highly relevant to the PSDA community. These workshops have been developed with an emphasis on teaching, not lecturing, to increase the knowledge and effectiveness of PSDA member company employees. Conference education workshops address:

Henry S. GivrayChairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, SmithBucklin

Opening KeynoteGivray’s presentation, “The Passion of Leadership,” will help you identify opportunities to grow as leaders, offering a working framework for defining, understanding, and measuring

leadership capacity and performance. PSDA recently spent a few moments talking with Givray about what he’ll discuss at the Print Solutions Conference and Expo.

Q. What will people learn from your presentation? There’s no playbook or instruction manual that guarantees success for an organization managing through difficult, uncertain times or capitalizing on opportunities during good times. However, there is one clear certainty: All of the best strategies, creative ideas, and brilliant game plans cannot succeed or be sustained without strong and effective leadership. But leadership is not something bestowed upon you or granted to you by virtue of your title or position. In fact, leadership is invited and can only be given willingly by others based on who you are and what you do, and it is revealed by what you inspire and what you enable.

Q. What keeps you motivated?I’ve been a passionate student of leadership for as long as I can remember. I have this unquenchable thirst to continue to learn and grow in order to earn the privilege of being called a leader. I’m simply in awe of the power and impact of great leaders and the profound difference one person can make.

Q. What piece of advice has had the greatest impact on your business and professional growth?Focus and prioritize your time and energy on things that only you can do.

Krish DhanamChief Executive Officer, Training International Inc.

Closing KeynoteDhanam’s presentation, “Creating a Winning Momentum,” will show attendees how to take what they learned at the 2011 Print Solutions Conference and Expo to build upon their business foundations

and achieve key objectives. He’ll also explain how to apply concepts for embracing adaptability and adjusting positively to changes that come along.

Q. What has made you passionate about the topics you deliver?

As an observer of human behavior, I enjoy being a catalyst and facilitating positive reactions in cultures while staying objective to the process. Having traversed much of the globe in the last two decades, I have come to the understanding that though human beings live, look, and learn differently, their core dreams and aspirations are always the same. If you can meet them at their point of discomfort and provide practical and pragmatic solutions, everyone will feel better about their individual opportunities for success.

Q. What piece of advice has had the greatest impact on your business and professional growth?

There was one habit of the heart that I acquired from my mentor and hero Zig Ziglar – that anything worth doing was worth doing poorly until you could learn to do it well. He was quoting another person, but it gave me a new passion to be excited about innovation and possibility. Failure, according to Ziglar, was an event – never a person. The second was a Malcolm Muggeridge quote that stated there was no new news, just old news happening to new people. This allowed me to seek guidance from those that had already fulfilled most of their earthly journey. In a world of change and supposed progress, I was looking to people from a bygone era for advice. Greatest thing I ever did.

Keynote Speakers’ Perspectives Inspire and MotivateThe 2011 Print Solutions Conference and Expo features two keynote addresses designed to call out your potential for leadership and motivate you to take your business to the next level.
