The Theerthakund is a subterranean water body energized by aRasalinga, made of solidified mercury. Suryakund, a newTheerthakund for men, will be consecrated by Sadhguru in theDhyanalinga Complex from 21 22 Dec 2012. Following is aninterview with Sadhguru about the Theerthakund and the benefitsone can derive from it.

The word Theertha does not mean holy water. In a literal sensetheerth means something which is inflamed. The idea is to takea substance which is inflamed with energy into the system. Sothis is not a Snanakund (bathing space), this is aTheerthakund. The water in this tank water is consecrated with amercury lingam designed to create a certain vibrancy in thewater. People can get into this water that makes their body morereceptive before they go into the Dhyanalinga. The Dhyanalinga isa profound space for meditation. Just sitting silently for a fewminutes within the sphere of Dhyanalinga is enough to make eventhose unaware of meditation experience a state of deepmeditativeness.

The mercury linga in the tank is 99.8% pure solidified mercury.



Generally, according to the principles of modern chemistry, youcannot solidify mercury at room temperature. Here, this linga hasbeen solidified at normal, room temperature through the ancientscience of Indian alchemy. Mercury as a substance has been a veryimportant part of all kinds of spiritual alchemy around the world.There is a whole mastery of this called Rasa Vidhya or RasaVaidhya. You can consecrate mercury whichever way you wantand the reverberation is almost eternal. It will stay foreverbecause the substance is like that it retains that energy for avery, very long time.

For those people who dont get the point easily, we want to drownthem not in water, but drown them in a certain energy field, sothat even the hardest nuts will crack somewhere. It is basicallyused as a mechanism or a preparatory tool to enter theDhyanalinga, but even by itself it is very powerful. It wasconsecrated in a particular way fundamentally to open up onesreceptivity, stabilize and straighten out the energy or the pranicimbalances within a person, which will lead to tangible physicaland mental wellbeing. Some time ago, an 83-year-old man cameand shared with me, After I went into the pool twice, I feel 5years younger than what I am. He had not climbed a staircase in



the last 3 or 4 years but he went down to the Theertakund andcame up by himself. If you are inside for at least 7 to 12 minutes,you will see a tremendous sense of vibrancy and rejuvenation inthe body. Especially if you have any kind of ailment, it is good tostay there for a little while. You can also touch the linga.

Above all, the Theertakund creates a tremendous sense ofspiritual receptivity in a person. There is a tremendous amount ofenergy there and the body is always much more receptive whenwet than when dry. This is a whole tradition in India; when youwant to enter the inner sanctum, first you have a bath outside andthen go in with wet clothes, because a wet body is always muchmore receptive to these energies than a dry one.

Suryakund Consecration is a residential program conducted by Sadhguru. The powerfulconsecration process requires a committed atmosphere. Therefore, attendance ismandatory on both days. Those above 14 years of age are eligible to participate. It is notcompulsory to have attended an Isha Yoga program.
