Flock Ram sale, on Tuesday 8th August 2017

Commencing at 1.00pm. Sale Rams are available for inspection from 10.00am the morning

of the sale. Other inspection times can be made prior to the sale at a mutually convenient

time. Please don’t hesitate to ask.

WOW, hasn’t the sheep job been fantastic, in the past 12 months, with record breaking prices

over the hooks and in the sale yards.

There has never been a better time to upgrade your Ram.

Sunnybrae Samm’s has had its personal best over the hooks earlier this year with Thomas

Foods having an average carcase weight of 31.2KG, and an average of $202 a head.

I can remember doing cartwheels when I got $100 a lamb.

This year’s, selection of rams are in fantastic condition, owing to the super wet year in 2016.

We at Sunnybrae Samm’s are always continuing to improve on genetics with two major

purchases in the Samm’s, one for his meat traits and the other being for his wool.

Also purchased was the second top priced ram from 2016 Glencorrie on property Ram Sale.

This Sire is the son of a sought after Border Leicester Ram from Coolawang valued at

$18,200

Progeny from both Breeds will be available next year.

We are getting great reports from clients that both breeds are doing exceptionally well.

All SAMM Rams presented at the sale are May/June 2016 drop,

All Samm/Border Leicester Rams are April/May 2016 drop, all have been vaccinated with

Glanvac 3in1 B12 and Eryvac 16/07/2016

It’s now even easier to protect

your sheep from arthritis!

Erysipelas arthritis, the most common cause of arthritis in

sheep, is estimated to cost the Australian sheep industry $18

million per year. This figure comes not only from lambs lost

before marking and deemed unfit to load, but also trimming at

the abattoir.

This form of arthritis is caused by the bacterium Erysipelothrix

rhusiopathiae, which enters the body through broken skin.

Therefore, the most likely time lambs will become infected are

at or soon after birth, marking and shearing cuts. The bacteria

itself can live in the soil, faeces and water but is also spread by

the ewes.

The good news is, the vaccine Eryvac is available to help prevent the onset of erysipelas arthritis in sheep.

The even better news is that a new dual vaccinator has been launched this year, meaning Eryvac and Glanvac

can be injected at the same time!

Studies on flocks from the Mid North and Eyre Peninsula have demonstrated an increase in profit of 52c/DSE

for fine wool flocks and $1.08/DSE for prime lamb flocks, fine wool flocks. More importantly, the breakeven

point for wool or prime lamb enterprises is a 0.5% cull rate (1 in 200 lambs culled due to Erysipelas arthritis).

So implement an Eryvac program and start improving profits today!
