JOIN A NEW DIRECTIONS COOKING TEAM! Rev. Nathan See

Did you know that before March of last year, members of First Presbyterian would cook a meal for the residents of the New Directions Men’s shelter each and every Wednesday? All year long, a rotation of five different teams from our church would take turns cooking and serving up to 140 meals a night . Although our church continued our support throughout the pandemic by donating food for the meal, our consistent Wednesday cooking had to pause . Over the last few months some of our volunteers have returned and we have been slowly organizing people to sign back up so that we can work to resume serving each Wednesday .

That being said, we would love to invite you to be on one of our teams who cook a meal once every 4-5 weeks . As the weather gets nicer and the numbers of vaccinated people increase, many of us are looking to get out of the house and try something new . If a new opportunity of

cooking for and serving others is something that interests you, please email me at [email protected] . We’d love to have you serve with us on one of our teams!

2021 MOTHER’S DAY OFFERING On Sunday, May 9, we will collect the Mother’s Day Offering for the benefit of Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina. For over 60 years, this offering has been an important act of support for this unique ministry of SC Presbyterians to older adults. The proceeds are used solely to support residents at Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina who have outlived their life savings through no fault of their own and now depend on the kindness of others. Consider giving this Mother’s Day either online on our website or by writing Mother’s Day offering in the memo line of your check.
