congregation. Please sign to indicate your presence and

witness to this sacred occasion.

Ryan Patrick Schaefer (Aaron and Melissa, parents)

Congregational Response (Unison):

With God’s help we will proclaim the good news

and live according to the example of Christ. We

will surround Ryan with a community of love and

forgiveness, that he may grow in his service to

others. We will pray for him, that he may be a true

disciple, walking in the way that leads to life.

SHARING GOD’S TITHES AND OUR OFFERINGS During the month of February our Loose Coin offering will

support United Methodist Hospitals Ministry (UMHM)

in Madison which provides chaplaincy to United

Methodists from around the state who need treatment at

one of Madison’s major hospitals. During illness, many

yearn for Christ’s presence, a healing touch, a personal

prayer. UMHM, through Chaplain Ann Scott, compliments

the amazing things physicians are able to do with surgery

and medicine by supporting the patient’s faith in a loving

God who accepts our brokenness and who makes us

whole. Rev. Scott is able to provide pastoral care when a

patient’s local pastor cannot be there. Let God change the

world through you and your change.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!

Thou art the potter, I am the clay.

Mold me and make me after Thy will,

while I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!

Wounded and weary, help me I pray!

Power, all power, surely is Thine!

Touch me and heal me, Savior divine!

Lord’s Prayer (Unison) Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy

name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on

earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily

bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we

forgive those who trespass against us. And lead

us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the

glory, forever. Amen.

Today’s Hymn Note: Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing Born of humble parents, Robert Robinson could not afford schooling for the ministry, so he was apprenticed at fourteen to a London barber and hairdresser. After a dissolute youth he was converted by George Whitefield and became a Calvinist Methodist minister. Like the more famous John Newton’s more famous "Amazing Grace," Robinson's hymn is one of providence and grace. Like Samuel, who raised an Ebenezer (a stone altar which signified that God had brought him thus far), he confesses how great a debtor he is to the grace of God, as are we all. The tune NETTLETON first appeared as a two-part tune in John Wyeth's Repository of Sacred Music, Part Second (1813), where it was named “Hallelujah.” The tune has been attributed by some to Asahel Nettleton (1783-1844), a well-known evangelist of the early nineteenth century.

Thank you, Sponsors Coffee Fellowship is sponsored by Mary Larsen in appreciation for her church family The altar flowers are sponsored by John & Eileen Ireland in celebration of Gavin’s 20th birthday. Refreshments at Fresh Bread are sponsored by Mike & Leslie Prange in celebration of God’s gifts, and Christina Kime in celebration of CJ’s birthday. Fresh plants at Fresh Bread are sponsored by Tom & Tina Novak, celebrating Tom’s 50th birthday.

7:00pm Service on Wednesday, February 14

This coming Wednesday is a kind of double holiday. Every year, February 14th is Valentine's Day. This year, February 14th is also Ash Wednesday. And we've got a special invitation for that evening. Ash Wednesday is a big holiday, for it represents the start of entire season. Lent, the forty-day period leading up to and preparing for Easter, begins this Wednesday, Ash Wednesday. Lent can be a meaningful season of personal reflec-tion and spiritual growth. Indeed, it will be as meaningful as we make it. And our Ash Wednesday service is a good place to start.

Traditionally, the students in our Confirmation class lead our Ash Wednesday service. This year, those students are preparing a program called "Jesus Nearby." We'll climb into the stories of several characters in Scripture who were impacted by Jesus. And we'll be invited to see ourselves in them. Join us this Wednesday night, February 14, for "Jesus Nearby," starting at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary.

An Invitation from Pastor David

They say that simple pleasures are the best. I believe that. And so I’d like to invite us into a simple pleasure during the Wednesdays of this upcoming Lenten season (Wednesday nights of Lent (February 21, February 28, March 7, March 14, March 21, and March 28).

The simple picture I have in my mind is a group of us sitting around in a circle reading the Bible together, and discussing what we’re reading. No fanfare, no technology, no curriculum – just us and our Bibles. It is what Christians have done together for centuries, of course, but as with so many areas of modern life, we have moved away from this simple recipe in recent decades.

Our text will be the Sermon on the Mount. It is three chapters long – Matthew 5, 6, and 7 – and we’ll have six weeks to spend on it together. So we’ll spend two weeks reading and discussing Matthew 5, the next two weeks on Matthew 6, and the final two weeks on Matthew 7. It’s simple, and it will be a pleasure. I hope you’ll join me!

Wanted: Volunteers and pizza lovers On Monday, February 19, KenyaHELP is hosting a fundraiser at Pizza Ranch (2206 E. Main Street) for our KenyaHELP students' scholar-ships. There are two options. You could volunteer to help, or be a customer, or both!

Our group will take over the wait staff responsibilities and KenyaHELP will receive 10% of dine-in sales from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. All tips are also a donation to KenyaHELP. We need 10 people for our first shift (3:30pm until 6:10pm), and would like another 8 people to help from 5:50pm until 8:30pm. We will receive instructions on clearing tables, serving pizzas, assisting in general cleaning, and delivering legendary service to the guests. Please contact Jill Thiede at [email protected] or (920) 655-3612 to volunteer.

2018 Pine Lake Camp The church family has the opportunity to be involved in mission at Pine Lake Camp July 8-13. We w ill assist camp staff being “buddies” to adult special needs campers, building relationships with individuals who are differently-abled.

Youth have come home saying camp was “a life changing experience.” If interested, please check it out with Loken Malin, Lauren Mainard, Madi Blank, Noah Key, Isaac Muscavitch, Rhyan Peed and Jamison Taft. Or contact Diane Wilson at (920) 676-0781. Limited spots are available.
