Summer Intern…

Hey everyone! My name is Katie Grant

and I am so excited to be the summer

intern here at SBC! Many of you will

recognize me from my involvement

around the church in the past years. I

am currently just wrapping my second

year of my Bachelor of Arts degree at

the University of British Columbia in

Kelowna, in hopes to eventually get my Bachelor of Elementary

Education degree.

I grew up in Summerland and have been a part of the

Summerland Baptist Church ever since I was a little munchkin in

‘Sparks’. I was an avid participant in middle school youth, then

high school youth group when Mikel was leading it. I went on

the first missions trip to Mexico, to help share God’s love with

VBS and to build a beautiful family of 6 a home. Many of you will

know me from helping Matt with Sunday School while I was in

High School, and leading the little kindergarten and grade one

group. I also was a cabin leader to numerous of SBC’s youth

while I was working, volunteering or a Leader in Training at

Camp Tulahead for 4 years. I was also a camper there for 7 years

and it is where I first discovered and developed my relationship

with God. I am so excited for what this summer has in store and

if you see me around please say hi and introduce yourself!

Youth…

TAALOO ZOROUNA...COME VISIT WITH US The Summerland Refugee Sponsorship Group presents a free

public screening of "Taaloo Zorouna", Arabic for "Come Visit

With Us". The film is a series of interviews with four Syrian

refugee families who came to the Okanagan last year, including

two families who settled in Summerland and one in Penticton.

The film offers a glimpse into the refugees' lives and addresses

questions many people have of experiences leaving their

country and resettling in Canada.

Following the screening, join the Syrian families and members of

the Sponsorship Group in the theatre lobby for informal

conversation over specially prepared Middle Eastern hors

d'oeuvres. The screening will take place on Wednesday, May

3rd, 2017, 7:00 PM at Centre Stage Theatre, Summerland.
