FOR A BETTER USSummer at the Y inspires well-balanced, healthy youth development. Children unlock new skills, discover new interests, celebrate new achievements, and share all of these character-building experiences with new friends. They are given these opportunities every day in Y Camp. For the campers, it adds up to summer fun. For us, it means they feel safe, happy, supported, and loved – the

building blocks of a healthy community, for a better us.

The Y. For a better summer. For a better camper. For a better us.

SUMMER UNPLUGGE DAt the Y, we firmly believe summer is a time to

let loose in the great outdoors! Campers will run, sweat, get their hands

and clothes dirty, and some may even mysteriously lose a sock (or shoe, or water bottle, or hat…). We love it when campers go home “ready to rest” (wink,

wink!). It means they spent their camp day in a whirlwind of

non-stop, full on, enriching summer fun. Mission accomplished!

Y CAMP FOR ALL

Every year, hundreds of families across central Maryland are in need of financial support.

The Y’s Send a Kid to Camp campaign raises funds to provide financial aid through our Open Doors assistance program so that families experiencing financial hardship can give their children a safe, enriching summer

they otherwise couldn’t afford. Please give if you can and help send a kid to camp.

HELP SEND A KID TO

CAMP

Y Camp continues to be one of the lowest cost, ACA accredited camps in Maryland. In fact, we held our 2018 rates steady for most 2019 Y camps. We believe in making quality camp experiences accessible to all. One way we achieve this is through our Open Doors financial assistance program. Please apply if you need help. See page 26 for details.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL Jan 21st – Feb 28th: Register for Y Camp and get 5% off of your camp weeks and 75% off the registration fee. THAT’S A SAVINGS OF UP TO $162 PER CAMPER! See page 25 for promo codes.

GET STARTED FOR LESS Through February 28th, all camp registrations will only require a $15 deposit per week (normally $25) so you can lock in more camp weeks early and save as much as possible with our early bird special. Registrations after Feb 28th will require our regular $25 deposit per week. See page 26 for details.

Y members always pay the lowest rate on Y Camp. On average, as low as $62 less per week. That’s a savings of up to $620 per camper over the entire summer! The savings are undeniable:

• Three weeks of camp at the member rate saves you an average of $186 per camper.

• Seven weeks of camp at the member rate saves you an average of $434 per camper.

The savings only grows if you take advantage of our early bird savings.

With full year-round access to the Y including exercise classes, the best equipment, Stay & Play for the kids, family events, pools, rock walls, teen clubs, reduced rates on swim lessons and more, members can save on Y Camp and enjoy year-round healthy family fun! Plus you never have to sign a long term contract.

A family membership is $94/month for your entire family – up to four adults and all dependent children under age 25 in your household.

Additional camp days may be available the weeks of June 10th – 14th and August 27th – 31st. This will depend on your public school system’s final calendar for the end of the current school year and the start of the next school year, which is typically announced after the winter months.

Y CAMP 2019THE EXPERIENCEEvery week of camp includes theme days and spirit days where campers participate in special camp activities. We also celebrate camp “holidays”, which you’ll only find on a Y calendar!

Monday through Friday represents a spirit day (ex. Tie Dye Tuesday)

Every Thursday brings with it a different theme (ex. Carnival)

Our camp “holidays” give you something new to celebrate (ex. National Ice Cream Day)

Benefits of Online Registration Complete camper files Sibling discounts and promotions Pay camp balances Print receipts and tax information Make camp changes Search for camps without

logging in or creating an account

Y Membership AdvantagesY members always get the lowest rate on Y Camp, on average as low as $62 less per week – that’s a savings of up to $620 for the entire summer. To qualify for member rates, the child you are registering must be an active Y member at the time of registration and remain active through the end of the camp season. For family membership holders, the membership must be in the name of the parent/guardian registering the child. If a membership is purchased after registration, the member rate will not apply.

Registration Fee & Registration PacketsA one-time registration fee of $35 per camper is paid during the completion of your online registration packet. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Your 2019 camp registration cannot be confirmed/finished until you complete the online registration packet (via the $35 registration fee). This packet captures important information related to your child’s health and safety, and is required and in accordance with State and National guide-lines that permit and accredit our camps. Campers will not be admitted to camp and camp weeks may be cancelled without a completed online registration packet.

There is a day camp registration packet and a Hashawha/Puh’tok registration packet. The information contained in each packet is unique to either day camp or overnight camp. If your child is attending a Y day camp and an overnight camp at Hashawha or Puh’tok, you will need to complete both online registration packets.”

To sign up for your registration packet, go to ymaryland.org and in the Camp box on the homepage, click on Camp Locations. Select your camp location and click the Register tab. From there you will be able to select the registration packet. Please have your child’s tetanus shot date on hand when you complete the packet.

Early Bird Special Get 5% off your camp weeks and 75% off the registration fee when you register between January 21st – February 28th – a savings of up to $162! Use promo code EARLYBIRD2019 for the camp weeks and REGPACKET75 for the registration fee. Savings not valid on transportation or other fees.

Recommended Online Registration Method

BEFORE REGISTERING, review the 2019 Y Camp brochure. When you’re ready to register, go to ymaryland.org and in the Camp box on the homepage, click on Camp Locations. Select your camp location and click the Register tab. From there you will be able to register for any of the camps that are available at your chosen location.

Please Note: If you are not a returning camp family or Y member, you will need to set up an online account prior to registering. Follow the instructions on your camp location page.

Y CAMP 2019

Most Y Camps are ACA accredited, which means we run our camps according to the best policies and practices in the industry. We voluntarily go through rigorous inspections by outside professionals to ensure we continue to exceed state regulations in health, safety, programming, qualifications, training, emergency management plans and more—up to 300 standards in all!

EXCEPTIONAL TEAM Y camp team member candidates undergo a minimum of 30 hours of training that is specific to their role, including CPR and First Aid. Our thorough review process includes a half day of leading actual activities and camp scenarios, reference and background checks, and several interviews. If you would like to inspire youth and join our exceptional camp team, apply online at ymarylandcareers.org.
