Summer term - Week 11
Please do the following each weekday: -
1. Times Tables Rock Stars – improve your score!
2. Hit the Button each day before completing your main maths activity. Focus on times
tables, division facts, number bonds and squared numbers.
3. Number of the day. Each day you will also have number of the day. How many ways
can you get to this number? What can you tell me about this number? You know the
drill by now!
Post photos of your number of the day on Kidblog so we can see who gets the most number
facts!
4. Complete a task each day from here. There are three activities for each day (the
first one is the easiest and the last one is the hardest - challenge yourself!). You do
not need to print anything out. Please write your answers in your exercise books or on
paper. Remember how to set out your work neatly and date it.
5. After the task there are now two challenges. Remember to show your working out
and explain your answers fully using mathematical language if necessary. Don’t worry
if you can’t do all of them!
6. Cooking is all about maths too – measures!
Week 11 is all about subtracting and adding fractions.
Remember –
Easiest
Medium
Hardest
You choose which one you think is best for you. You can challenge
yourself by working through them all if you find the first one easy!
The Ultimate Challenge Multiplication and Division sheet at the end
for you to practise your rapid recall of tables and their related
division facts – hugely important in helping you with fractions.
If you have any questions for us, please put them on Kidblog.
If you get really stuck – don’t worry as we will do some more practise
when we all back in school. If you need to, stop, and spend more time
on the other daily maths activities.
Can you remember the following mathematical vocabulary?
equivalent fractions, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, improper
fractions, mixed numbers, convert, numerator, denominator, represent, add,
quarter, halves, eighths, fifths, whole, numerator, denominator, multiply,
You will need these this week. You have covered all of this in class, so this is a
bit of revision and extra fluency practise.
You do not need to print – write the answers or draw diagrams
in your book or on paper.
Task 1
Today’s number of the day is 1
Remember – one whole has the same number as the numerator
and the denominator. (e.g. 1 whole is the same as 2/2, 12/12
etc)
Challenge
Task 2
Today’s number of the day is 4
You will need to make sure the denominators are the same in each calculation.

Task 3
Today’s number of the day is 9

Task 4
Today’s number of the day is 16

Task 5
Today’s number of the day is 25
What have you noticed about all of the numbers of the day
this week? Can you list some more of this type of number?
