Welcome to the Industry Intensive Summer School!

We are so excited to have you join us and hope that this week will be a time of learning, fun and inspiration for you in

our wonderful performing arts industry.

This week is designed to explore all elements of the performing arts, which naturally means that students may not have much experience in particular fields. Be prepared to be pushed in your favourite classes and introduced to the styles

which you are unfamiliar with.

This is a safe, supportive environment for you to learn new skills without the pressure of an audition panel assessing

you! Make the most of this rare opportunity!

We are fortunate enough to have some of Australia’s leading professionals on our teaching staff, all of whom are happy to

guide you through their area of expertise and answer any questions that you might have.

Thank you for choosing to be apart of this very special summer school.

We can’t wait to meet you!

The Industry Intensive team.

* Your child’s safety is important to us. Please note that students are to be signed in & out if under 18 years of age at the time of the Intensive.

CLASSES

DancingTaught by some of Australia’s leading dance professionals, dance classes will include Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Technique, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Song and Dance, Theatre Jazz and more. These classes will challenge and inspire you to be the best dancer that you can be, particularly in challenging environments such as the audition room.

ActingNo matter which area of the performing arts you identify with, the ability to act through your performances is crucial. With classes on stage and screen acting as well as improvisation and character development, you will be connecting with your audiences in no time. Learn how to relate truthfully and authentically with whatever role you are required to take on. SingingOften the most daunting for performers, learn how and what to practise to improve your voice in an encouraging, supportive environment. Classes will assist you in knowing how to choose an audition song, how to sing with a group, how to connect with your chosen pieces and how to improve your vocal technique.

IndustryThe ‘business end’ of the intensive. Learn those tips and tricks that will help you through the performing arts industry. Classes will explain the best way to approach auditions, how to choose a headshot, what agents look for, and much more. Experienced performers will also inform students on what it takes to ‘make-it’ in the industry.

Audition Workshop

On the final day of the intensive, students will participate in a mock-audition. This ‘audition’ will be attended by writers and agents to take notes and provide feedback to students. Selections of an original Australian musical will be taught to the students throughout the day, with Intensive students being the first to workshop this piece. Towards the end of the day, students will perform the content they have learnt and simulating the process of a professional audition, will progress through rounds until the ‘final cast’ are announced.

This is a unique experience, where students will have the opportunity to gather feedback about their performances from those on the panel.

Students are permitted to observe this process if they do not wish to perform in front of the panel, but are strongly recommended to take part in this invaluable learning experience!
