Parks & Recreation Georgia is known for several thing; peaches, pecans, legendary musicians, and high temperatures. This summer beat the heat at one of our community pools! We have three locations which are all open Tuesday-Friday: 1:00-7:00pm and Saturday’s 10:00am-3:00pm. The pool season runs through August 3rd, 2013. In addition to public swim our pools also offer FREE swim lessons, senior swim hour, and Free public transportation from three of our community centers who do not have pools! This summer we are offering free 2 week swim lessons for

children and adults! Each 2 week session consists of 8,

45-minute lessons.

Lessons will take place at the following centers:

Memorial Park Pool - 2465 Second Street

Booker T. Washington Pool - 391 Monroe Street

East Macon Pool - 3326 Ocmulgee East Blvd.

Memorial Park and Booker T. Washington offer swim lessons at 9:00-9:45 and 12:00-12:45. East Macon Park offers swim lessons at 9:00-9:45 only. If the swimmer is registered for swim lessons at Memorial from 9-9:45, then the swimmer can only attend that class, every morning from Tuesday to Friday for two weeks straight. There can be no changing of dates. All registration MUST be done in person inside of the recreation centers, if registering for lessons at the Booker T. Wash-ington Pool registration is taking place at L.H. William’s school gymnasium - 325 Pursley Street. The maximum number of students per class will be capped at 16 people – registration is first come, first served.

Free Swim Lesson

Public Swim Transportation

For transportation to our swimming pools, the Parks and Recreation Department will be running a school bus to transport swimmers from Bloomfield Center, Frank Johnson Center, and Freedom Park Center to Booker T. Washington Pool every Tuesday and Friday. BUS PICK-UP SCHEDULE: Tuesday & Friday 12:15 p.m. - Bloomfield Community Center, 4115 Lions Place 12:30 p.m. - Frank Johnson Center, 2227 Mercer University Drive 12:45 p.m. - Freedom Park Center, 3301 Roff Avenue 1:00 p.m. - Arrive at Booker T. Washington Pool, 391 Monroe St.

The bus will then leave the Booker T. Washington Pool at 4:00 p.m. sharp and will drop participants off at the centers in which they boarded starting at approximately 4:15 p.m. (Bloomfield), 4:30 p.m. (Frank Johnson), 4:45 p.m. (Freedom Park). The bus will run Tuesdays and Fridays during the month of June and July with the exception of Friday July 5th. Each bus rider MUST sign-in at the bus and enter into the pool with no exit. At 4:00 p.m., all bus riders MUST sign-out from the pool and enter the bus. All riders must still have the $1.00 fee to enter the pool. Anyone under 9 years old MUST be accompanied by an adult. Other than the accompanied adult, the age for the bus transportation is for high school students and younger. Please call 478-751-9280 with questions

Senior Swim will take place at the East Macon Pool every Thursday morning, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

This time is for seniors ONLY and the cost is $1.00 per person. For more

Outdoor Screening of “42”

Doggy Dip

Join us First Friday, August 2nd, 2013 at 8pm for a free

outdoor screening of “42” in Luther Williams Stadium!

Sit in the same spot that Jackie Robinson stood in this

historic ballpark!

This event is free and open to the public! Picnic baskets

and blankets are encouraged. Outside food and drink is

allowed, ballpark fare will be available at 1930’s prices!

Join us on the green at 8pm, movie will start at dark!

Please refrain from bringing high backed chairs.

Spend a special day with your favorite companion and

meet others who share the same interest.!

On Sunday August 4th from 12:00-7:00pm the East

Macon Park Pool will host the first annual Doggy Dip!

$2 per dog, $1 per person

Dogs get the chance to play, run free, and swim in our

City pools the day after the pools are closed for the

summer.

** Any dog that becomes aggressive will be removed

from the pool with no refunds.

Please feel free to bring any unopened dog food

and treats, which will be donated to Bibb County

Animal Control.

Saturday July 27th Macon, Georgia's ultimate summer mu-

sic festival where, rain or shine, 56 bands take on 15 stages

and put on one unforgettable shows after another in a jam-

packed, country, rock, blues, electronic and soul-infused

night.

But the Bragg Jam Festival isn't just for live-music lovin'

night owls. During the day, Bragg Jam's Arts @ the Park

hosts a free daytime event where... families are invited to

create, perform and play in the heart of the city. The event

features art, food and beverage vendors, live music and

community performances and nature-oriented activities.

As the sun goes down, Bragg Jam's signature Concert

Crawl is already geared up, featuring 56 live music perform-

ances at a variety of Macon hotspots, with free trolley ser-

vice throughout the night. In addition to bars and theatres,

there are all-ages performance venues that are smoke-free

and family friendly. Admission to the Concert Crawl gets you

an armband that gives you access to all participating ven-
