Membership Details

The YMCA offers quality programs andservices designed to benefit people of allincomes, ages, genders and backgrounds. It isour pledge, within the available resources ofthe YMCA, to provide services to individualsregardless of the ability to pay. Assistance isavailable for programs and membership.

Child Watch (Nursery)*Ages 6 months to 6 years

YMCA Child Watch is a nursery service forYMCA members' children while their parentsare in the facility. Members must have aFamily or Single Parent Family Membership toutilize Child Watch. There is no charge for thisservice and it may be used for up to two hoursper visit.

Financial Assistance

Facility RentalsThe YMCA is a great place to have your next party or meeting. Besure to book your party early; the prime times fill about one monthin advance. The pool, gymnasiums, and community rooms areavailable for rental. Call either the Downtown or Dunigan FamilyYMCA for availability and pricing.

Facility Member (FM)Allows full use of the Downtown andDunigan Family YMCAs, including allmembership benefits. Members alsoreceive free or reduced pricing onprograms.

Program Member (PM)Participants who enroll in individual YMCAprograms (swim lessons, basketball, etc.)without being a Facility Member.

For YMCA programs, a credit or refund will be given before the first class. Participants have theoption of receiving a credit or a cash refund for 80% of their fee. After the first class, refunds andcredits are given for medical reasons only. Credits and refunds should be requested at theMember Service Desk or from the program director.

Riptides Swim TeamThe YMCA swim team is for those kids, ages 5 to 18,who wish to participate in a healthy, positive, competitiveswimming program with an emphasis on strokeimprovement and team work. Practices are held in theevenings and weekends. Children must be able to swim1 length of the pool without stopping or touching thebottom of the pool. A free trial period is available forthose kids who want to try the team for a week. Pleasevisit www.ymcariptides.com for practice days and timesand to print off your free trial card.

GuardStartThe American Red Cross GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow course is designed to prepare 11-14 year olds to take the Red Cross Lifeguarding certification program (when they reach the age of15) and for future work as lifeguards. The GuardStart program helps participants build afoundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills that they will need to be responsible lifeguards.Lessons are grouped into five main areas: prevention, fitness, response, leadership andprofessionalism.

Lifeguard TrainingThe American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is approximately a 31 hour course which providesparticipants with the knowledge, skills and training necessary to become a lifeguard. Scout Troop AquaticsBring your Scout Troop to learn water safety, proper stroke technique, boating safety and otherskills necessary for water related badge requirements. A trained YMCA lifeguard or swiminstructor will assist you. Call to schedule your troop!

Water Exercise ClassesThe YMCA offers a wide variety of water fitness classes for participants ages 14 and older,designed to accommodate all fitness levels. Jump Start TrainingThis seven week program is designed for those beginners interested in training for the goal ofcompleting a half marathon and needing assistance increasing mileage to prepare for the “Team13” program. Informational meeting will be held on Monday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. at theDowntown YMCA.

Team 13 TrainingThis volunteer led “13 Weeks to 13 Miles” training is designed to help individuals at all fitnesslevels train for the half marathon on October 10th. Youth Wellness OrientationAll YMCA members ages 12-13 MUST complete this orientation class to use the Dunigan FamilyYMCA Wellness Center. The orientation will provide information such as proper use of equipment,safety and how exercise affects the body. The participant will also learn how to set up a fitnessprogram and use the cardiovascular and weight training equipment with proper technique. Pre-registration is required prior to the day of the class.

Wellness CoachingThis standardized program meets for 30 - 60 minutes one day per week for six weeks. It is avery basic program for members who are new to exercise and need some direction. Nutrition CounselingOne-on-one consultations include an assessment of current nutrition status, education andcounseling for a healthier lifestyle.

Functional FitnessThis program, led by a YMCA certified Personal Trainer, will coach high school athletes through asystematic routine that will help them to develop a higher level of athletic preparation, focusing oninjury reduction and improving performance through the use of progressively more demandingexercises. In this program, strength is developed with the intent of improving sport skills. Thisprogram includes strength assessment, upper and lower body strength progressions, torsotraining, plyometric training and balance progressions.

Sports Nutrition ClassAre you training for a big event? Putting time and effort toward finishing a big race?Then you need to learn how to properly fuel your body! Come learn the key elements of nutritionand hydration for the endurance athlete. This 1 hour informational session will be led by aregistered dietitian. Make nutrition a priority and see how your body reacts!

Women’s Strength TrainingStrength training is a critical component of any fitness program. It helps to prevent osteoporosisas well as increase metabolism. Each seven week session is designed to teach basic strengthtechniques through the use of free weights. Classes are kept small to ensure optimal hands-onexperience.

YMCA Weight Loss Support GroupOur YMCA Weight Loss Support Group is about real-life weight management. Teachers will provide hands on experience for your child while developing basic socialand academic skills in a Christian environment. These classes run September through May andfollow the EVSC school calendar. A non-refundable $40 deposit is due upon enrollment. Tuitionis paid monthly and is due the first day of each month. Challenger British Soccer“The Challenger Way” focuses on challenging players toimprove with maximum participation, maximum toucheson the ball and maximum fun.
