Hawk’s Haven Primary DivisionFor kids ages 4-entering grade 4

Hawk’s Haven Day Camp enables your child to have a summer filled with fun and field trips, enrichmentand exploration, and learning and laughter. Ourprogramming is designed to ensure that each agegroup will enjoy a wide variety of experiences that aredevelopmentally appropriate in a safe and secureenvironment. A tentative schedule is provided to givean outline of the typical activities that are included in the Hawk’s Haven experience. However, ourprogramming is flexible enough to include freechoice, spontaneity and unstructured play.

Campers enjoy time with their own age groups, butalso experience the advantages of multi-aged groupson a regular basis. This ensures that siblings in variousgrades have an opportunity to spend time togetherand allows for leadership development of our olderstudents as they “buddy-up” with the younger ones!

The social, emotional, intellectual, and physicalneeds of each camper are addressed through: • Recreation and playground time• Arts and crafts projects• Music, movement and dramatic activities• Learning games and “fun packs” in computer skills, mathematics, reading, and writing• Community service projects• Field trips, museum visits, and park excursions

There will be ample time for playground play on adaily basis. Weather permitting, we will use our fieldfor water fun! Our beautiful grounds also providesome great places for an outdoor summer lunch.

Many exciting activities and adventures awaitcampers this summer. We are confident the Hawk’sHaven Day Camp experience will fulfill the needs ofboth parents and campers!

Hawk’s Haven Middle DivisionFor kids entering grades 5-8

Last summer, we introduced the middle division. It quickly grew to become the largest single group in Hawk’s Haven! Designed to specifically meet theneeds of middle schoolers, the daily program offers a diverse selection of activities, arts, academics, andexperiences. Campers explore science, arts andcrafts, math, environmental education, computerkeyboarding and software, and geocaching (new for 2010) each week. Time is provided for supervisedreading, allowing students to get ahead on theirSummer Reading assignments, or simply enjoying a good book of their choosing.

The camp also offers instruction and supervisedplay in three core sports: soccer, tennis, and basket-ball. In addition, campers participate in otherorganized team play and games. Like our other daycamps, Tuesdays and Thursdays offer opportunitiesfor off-campus experiences. Middle school campersjoin the other Hawk’s Haven campers on field tripswhen appropriate. Often, the “mids” journey out ontheir own for experiences more suited to their ageand interests. Last summer, they climbed to the top ofthe Wind Point Lighthouse, saw the wind tunnel testfacilities and Modine, and had a behind-the-scenestour of Miller Park! What will 2010 hold in store?

Campers will be grouped by age, when appropriate,in multi-aged activities at other times. Camp groupswill have the chance to build lasting bonds andfriendships through exploration, activity, and fun. This allows campers to explore the world aroundthem with their peers, but also spend time serving as role models to our younger campers.

A typical week includes:

BIG MONDAY Middle school campers will explore the arts andscience in the mornings. Our hands-on scienceactivities are always a highlight of the summer! Thisyear, each weekly science activity will connect to a
