INVITATION

I invite you to the 2015 Subsea Tieback Forum & Exhibition in New Orleans, Louisiana. It’s an

exciting time for the offshore industry and in particular for Subsea, as we continue to face ever-

growing challenges. The world of subsea is an exhilarating area to work in, and it is so important

to meet and bring talented and diverse people together in forums like this, to ensure it remains a

platform for sharing experiences, lessons learned, best practices and technological innovations.

I would like to recognize the outstanding job that the Advisory Board did this year by putting together

a frst-class program that celebrates “15 Years of Sharing Challenges”. Moreover, the support from

our sponsors and exhibitors, combined with the diligent coordination from PennWell, are key enablers

for the success of this forum. The venue in New Orleans could not be more pleasant in creating an

inviting atmosphere around the event theme “Subsea and all that Jazz”.

This forum has become the “point” where subsea communities of practice meet and share

information while offering a perfect atmosphere for networking that allows attendees to hop between

the conference and exhibition. This year, the conference sessions address project learnings on

greenfeld and brownfeld deepwater subsea developments, asset integrity experiences and best

practices of design, construction and installation of fowlines, riser and umbilicals, and technology

achievements on subsea boosting and processing. The high-caliber presenters have put their heart

and soul into the content while their delivery in the presentations will allow the interaction of

audience and panelists during Q&A sessions. The exhibition displays state-of-the-art capabilities

offered by the subsea industry that cover a myriad of suppliers, consultants, service providers, and

manufacturing, construction and installation contractors.

This industry and its organizations are constantly evolving to be the agents of change that pave

a better and safer future for the industry. While at the conference, take a moment to seek out

other colleagues and expositors, and learn about their organization, skills and capabilities. This

collaboration is the key ingredient in continuing to build a more reliable, effcient and cost-effective

subsea system with an emphasis on safer operations.

In closing, I invite you to attend our forum and participate in this journey while bringing your

expertise to our gathering. You, as a current and future leader, have the vision, the knowledge,

the motivation, the energy and the experience to help us pave our way to the future of subsea.

Throughout this forum, I ask you to stay engaged, network, learn and share, while having fun in this

beautiful city.

I look forward to meeting you at the Subsea Tieback Forum 2015 in New Orleans.

TUBULAR BELLS - MANAGING CHANGETOR GAVEM, MANAGER SURF AND EXPORT, TUBULAR BELLS, HESS

The Tubular Bells project had several major changes including: change of operator, and relocation of the host platform. This presentation will address and discuss those changes, and how the changes were managed.

Tor Gavem is the SURF and Export Project Manager for the Tubular Bells project for Hess Corporation. He has been the SURF manager since 2010 when Hess became the operator, in which he lead the project from FEED through commissioning. Gavem started with the company in 2006 and has been manager for several projects related to the Ceiba feld in Equatorial Guinea and in the Gulf of Mexico. Prior to his career with Hess, Gavem worked for Wellstream and Technip.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering in 1998 from Florida Atlantic University, and received the Professional Engineer License in 2004.

LEARNINGS FROM SHELL GLIDER – SUBSEA LANDSCAPING TECHNIQUESBRYAN KUNG, PROJECT ENGINEER, SHELL

We’ve all heard about burying fowlines on purpose, but how about the entire subsea infrastructure … by accident? This presentation will outline Shell’s learnings when a riserless drilling operation dumped more than 1.1 million cubic feet of soil and mud on the majority of our subsea infrastructure.

Bryan Kung, Project Engineer, Shell, is in his 11th year at the company and currently oversees subsea tiebacks in the Gulf of Mexico. He started his career at the Norco refnery doing operations and maintenance as a control systems engineer, and later, in standardizing asset integrity work processes. In 2008, Bryan moved to Houston and joined the deepwater subsea projects group where he worked on the Macaroni, Perdido,

Cardamom, and Glider subsea felds.

DEEPWATER GULF OF MEXICO – JULIA PROJECT HIPPSSUSAN DENT, HIPPS EXECUTION LEAD, EXXONMOBIL DEVELOPMENT COMPANY

ExxonMobil Development Company (EMDC) is currently undertaking the development, qualifcation and fabrication of a subsea high integrity pressure protection system (HIPPS), which will enable production from a potentially high-pressure well within the Julia feld in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Leveraging HIPPS as a contingency to cover the occurrence of drilling a high potential pressure well, the Julia project has been able to capitalize on the use of qualifed SURF technologies rated to a lower pressure. This presentation will describe the details of the Julia development which drove the need for a contingency subsea HIPPS, the development of the Julia-specifc well-based HIPPS concept, and the design challenges faced during the progression of this concept thru design. The detailed design of the Julia contingency subsea HIPPS is currently being fnalized, with manufacturing of the HIPPS anticipated to conclude in 4Q 2015.

Susan Dent began her career with the ExxonMobil Development Company in 2003 as a Flow Assurance Engineer focused on deepwater production challenges including hydraulic and thermal analysis. From 2005 to 2011, she focused on fowline/riser design and installation for major deepwater projects. After completing various FEED studies, she frst served as the Flowline Engineer for the Erha project followed by the Kizomba satellites project. Since 2012, Dent’s focus has been on subsea equipment as the HIPPS FEED and execution lead for the Julia project, managing multiple contracts for the design and manufacturing of the project’s contingency subsea HIPPS.

GATHER YOUR CUSTOMERS AND CO-WORKERS AND JOIN US FOR A FUN DAY OF GOLF, SPORTING CLAYS, AND/OR 3 GUN COMPETITION.

Because of your help raising funds over the past 9 years and the work of a number of dedicated volunteers, The Subsea Tieback Foundation continues to grow and deliver on its promise to:

INFORM, EDUCATE AND INTRODUCE CAREERS IN THE OIL & GAS INDUSTRY SPECIFIC TO OFFSHORE AND SUBSEA DISCIPLINES

This growth is happening on numerous fronts including scholarships, sponsorships, educational and industry speakers programs, college senior design projects, and fundraising.

The Subsea Tieback Foundation will again be on display in the Exhibition Hall sharing the results of our efforts, and our plans for the future. Please drop by, we are sure you will be impressed with our progress, results and plans.

This year there are three options to support our fundraising efforts. In addition to our annual golf tournament, we have added a Sporting Clays Tournament and a 3 Gun Shoot. Numbers are limited so don’t hesitate to register.

Because the forum is being held in New Orleans this year, we have moved the Sporting Clays Event to Houston (American Shooting Center) and to the Friday before the forum. The Golf and 3 Gun events will remain at their existing locations. The 3 Gun Shoot will be held two Saturdays before the forum and the golf will again take place on Monday morning of the week of the Forum allowing participants who are attending the event plenty of time to make their way to the event.

The popularity of all three events continues to grow, so invite your friends, coworkers and competitors to participate. There is no excuse not to participate in all three events and support a great cause.
