On October 1, 2004, Total Petrochemicals was established as the petrochemical branch of the

Total group. With operations in 3 continents, 7000 employees and 2005 sales of 11297 M €,

Total Petrochemicals is a fully integrated activity including base petrochemicals - with

steamcrackers and refi nery processing plants - olefi ns and aromatics, as well as polymers.

Total Petrochemicals’ aim is to capitalize on synergies with refi ning, strengthen competitiveness in

Europe and North America, and accelerate development in fast growing regions, primarily Asia.

The worldwide management of Total Petrochemicals is based in Brussels with 4 divisions:

- Base Chemicals (Olefi ns, C4 fractions and Aromatics)

- Polyethylene

- Polypropylene

- Styrenics (Ethylbenzene, Styrene, Polystyrene).

With its worldwide presence and long-standing experience, Total Petrochemicals Styrene offers a high level of performance in terms of production reliability, product quality and consistency.

Following regular investments, Total Petrochemicals now operates an overall capacity of more than 1350 KT/year on 3 production sites around the world: Carling and Gonfreville in France, Carville in the US. Additionally, Samsung Total Petrochemicals, the joint-venture between Samsung General Chemicals and Total Petrochemicals, produces 680 KT/year in Daesan Korea with an expansion of 200 KT/year planned for 2007.

Total Petrochemicals is co-owner of the Badger-Total SM technology, a benchmark process for Styrene production around the globe.

Research and Technology Center

Total Petrochemicals operates a worldwide research facility in La Porte (Texas), dedicated to Research & Technology development, manufacturing, and customer support.Customer support is also provided by technical staff in Belgium.

Our Logistics Department in conjunction with Total Petrochemicals sustainable development policy:- optimizes product fl ows to customers - offers the best product supply methods - offers expert advice on storage and transportation - promotes the highest standards for transportation of hazardous products

Total Petrochemicals works together with its customers, applying product stewardship principles, to ensure optimum conditions of use for its products, whatever their application.

For Total Petrochemicals, product stewardship means strict compliance with three guiding principles:

- the knowledge of products and their inherent properties,- the evaluation of hazards and risks associated with the use of the products,- the defi nition of best practices to control risks throughout the products’ life cycle.

We lend both our expertise and our assistance to our customers in all these areas, and in particular for:

- the identifi cation and specifi cation of our products, via regularly updated safety data sheets and material safety data sheets.

- the implementation of best environmental practices.- advice on the use of our products.
