Thermo Structured Surface (TSS) is a unique alternative to wood, featuring a textured wood grain face that has been thermally fused and heat stamped to a particleboard core. This creates a durable, easy-to-clean surface that works well in any room of the home.

Painted cabinets have some unique characteristics that are important to know about. As wood naturally expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity, hairline cracks can occur wherever there’s a joint between pieces of wood with grain running in different directions. For example, the joints between stiles (vertical pieces) and rails (horizontal pieces) on doors or face frames. Since paint sits on the surface of the wood instead of sinking in like stain will, it is more susceptible to water damage. Be sure to wipe spills and splatters promptly with a clean, dry towel.

GlazeWood cabinets are constructed from many pieces of material and may exhibit many, or few, of the variations found in a given species. As a natural product, there is potential for noticeable differences in grain patterns or colors to appear on a single drawer front, or throughout a cabinet.

For a more uniform look, opt for a darker stain, or select an engineered material such as TSS or HG Laminate.

Katana frameless cabinetry offers quality cabinetry at a great price. Like all of our cabinets, Katana features a durable, low-VOC finish that will stand up to just about any household food product or chemical without damage, and we back the line with a comprehensive warranty.

• Drawer boxes and roll-outs are 1/2" solid wood dovetail construction with a natural wood finish and a fully captured bottom panel.

• Undermount, full-extension drawer guides feature a soft close system.

• One-piece concealed hinges include a soft close function.

• Full-depth white melamine adjustable shelves are 3/4" thick particleboard.

• The cabinet box is 5/8" thick particle-board on top, bottom, sides, toekicks and spreaders with a 1/2" captured back. Boxes are doweled and glued for stability. (Plywood upgrade is available.)

• Integral finished ends (IFE) may be ordered for each cabinet (the standard exterior is unfinished).

• Interior finish is white melamine on particleboard or woodgrain laminate on plywood. Many cabinet interiors can be finished (FMI) to match the door species/color.

Mixing MaterialsWhite and grey paints are mainstays of kitchen design, and are a great choice when remodeling with resale in mind.

When personalization is the goal, consider mixing painted cabinets with wood stains, TSS, or High Gloss (HG) Laminate.

As you can see here, warm stains like Cayenne complement most paint colors. For added contrast, pair darker stains or the Eclipse Collection TSS styles with White or Icing paint.
