WHAT ARE INDUSTRY EVENTS?

• INDUSTRY EVENTS 2013 is a series of networking events designed to put graduating seniors and their talents in front of industry professionals in their fields of interest.

• This is not a job fair. This is an opportunity to meet with industry professionals so they can review your work (if applicable) and to network with them. This is an opportunity to be talking with with the creative people of Chicago and surrounding areas.

Schedule of Events• Monday, May 6th 6-8pm - 600 S. Michigan 15th Floor:

Television Premiere Night. A Networking based event and screening of collaborative shows and student reels

• Tuesday, May 7th 5-8pm - 1104 S. Wabash 8th Floor: Moving Pictures. A Keynote Speaker, Navid McIlhargey, President of Film Engine followed up by screening of students reels, FrameWorks and networking reception.

• Thursday, May 9th 4-7:30pm – 33 E. Congress: Journalism Reception. Networking reception, showcasing of broadcast reels and an opportunity to show your portfolio to professionals.

• Thursday, May 9th 5:00-8:00pm- 33 E Congress C101: Radio Reception. Networking event, Club DJ class spinning and an opportunity to play your demo.

• Thursday, May 9th 5:00-8:00pm – 916 S. Wabash: IAM Showcase. Students will be tabled with their portfolios and work, Game students will be showing their games.

• Monday, May 13 6:00-8:00pm – Studio 404 72 East 11th Street: Sr. Showcase of Theatre Designers, Techs, & Directors. Students will be tabled showcasing their work.

• Tuesday, May 14th 5:00-8:00 – 1104 S. Wabash 8th Floor: Marketing Communication Reception: PRSSA is hosting a keynote from 5-6 from Fred Cook of Golin Harris. 6:00-8:00 Professionals will be seated and students can walk around to network and showcase their work to them.

• Thursday, May 16 5-8pm – 1006 S. Michigan 3rd Floor: Photography Review. Students will be tabled with their portfolios as professionals view their work.

• Friday, May 17th 8:30-10:30AM – 618 S. Michigan 2nd Floor: Fashion Industry Breakfast. Students will be tabled with their portfolios as professionals view their work. There is a curated runway show at 9:15, followed by a breakfast reception.

• Friday, May 17th 5:30-8:00pm – 33 E. Congress C101: Senior Showcase of Graphic Design, Illustration & Advertising Art Direction. Students will be tabled with their portfolios as professionals view their work.

• Take away items, such as business cards.• Online or print portfolios.• Resumes, if applicable.• Laptops, if applicable.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

This is not a job interview, nor a job fair. However, this is a networking event, so you want to look creative and clean, neat and casual – kind of like you’re going to an art opening or something of that nature.

WHERE DO I GET STUFF?Business Cards & Leave Behind DesignThese sessions allow 50 minute appointments with a graphic designer for your own unique business card or “one sheet” leave behind.

What you should bring: Design ideas for a business card or images & text you’d like included on a one sheet.

WHERE DO I GET STUFF?VIRB Start Up SessionsA current portfolio is a MUST for any senior. You do have skills, experience, and work samples that can and should be showcased in a web portfolio. Use these sessions as an opportunity to quickly get started on a portfolio.

What you should bring: Images, video, or audio that you’d like to showcase on your VIRB portfolio.

• Colin DeKuiper (Performance, AEMM) – By appointment on Wednesday 2p-5p and Thursdays 2-5p

• Julie Ford (Media, Fashion) – By appointment Mondays 2-5p and Thursdays 10a-1p

• Rob Funderburk (Visual Art) – By appointment Tuesdays 1-4p and Wednesdays 10a-1p and Fridays 10 -1p

• Melissa Henessy (Photography, Dance) – By appointment Tuesdays 10-11:30, Wednesdays 1-3pm & Thursdays 1:30-4pm

RESUME REVIEWS

These one-on-one sessions will provide you with an opportunity to bring in a printed copy of your resume and receive feedback. These sessions are available on a walk-in basis and are first come, first served.
