Student Dormitory Rules Establishment

Student Dormitory Rules are as follows.

Student Dormitory Residence Rules[established on 2015.04.20.]

Chapter 1. General ProvisionsArticle 1(Intent) Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology(hereafter

DGIST) enforce student dormitory residence rules(hereafter rules) within dormitory buildings, affiliated land and facilities.

Article 2(Application) The rules applies to all normal and special residents of student dormitory except family dormitory. Exceptional regulations on dormitory management principle are to be followed. Head of dormitory can adjust the range of application when necessary.

Chapter 2. Resident

Article 3(Rule) Residents can access to the dormitory between 00:00~24:00. Access time can be adjusted by head of student dormitory under emergency.

Article 4(Obligation) ① Residents are to aim at public safety and welfare, and follow rules to maintain academic atmosphere.

② Residents are supposed to follow rules on safety management and be responsible for fire prevention and other possible accidents.

➂ Residents are to strive to preserve the dormitory facilities and rental materials.

➃ Residence are to strive for theft prevention. ⑤ Residents are to obey instructions from the management staffs and cooperate for

inspections, cleaning and tidying. ⑥ Residents are to regularly check announcements on notice board in dormitory

manager’s office and dormitory official website.

Article 5(Change of Residence) Residents are not allowed to change residence without approval. Unavoidable changes due to medical condition need submission of application and approval from Head of dormitory.

Article 6(Use of Common Facilities) ① All common properties cannot be used

exclusively or moved without approval.

② Electricity, water, gas bills are to be payed by resident oneself.③ Laundry is to be done at designated laundry room.④ When using laundry room and other public area, pay extra attention to fire

prevention and double-check safety and cleanness after usage.

Article 7(Compensation) Residents are to compensate for any intentional or unintentional damage made on dormitory facilities or rent materials.

Article 8(Announcements and Posts) ① Any posts in dormitory are supposed to be in English or bilingual in Korean and English, and be posted on designated bulletin board after being approved by dormitory manager.

➁ All posts by students are to last for 7days or specifically approved time period. Subject of post is to remove the post in the end of posting period.

Article 9(Responsibility to Report) Residents are supposed to report to

administrative office when incidents below take place. (including penalty points) 1. Accidents caused or expected due to fire, collapse of building, gas

effluence 2. Fire-inducing action within dormitory(cooking, smoking in undesignated area,

possession of electric heater or any action hindering public safety and causing disorder(drinking, smoking within dormitory)

3. Oneself or other residents being under mental and physical danger 4. Contact with other residents being cut off 5. Finding unapproved guest within dormitory 6. Other incidents which may cause similar level of damage with above-stated

cases.

Article 10(Compliance Details) All residents are supposed to obey the following terms. Disciplinary action can take place upon disobedience according to penalty criteria, and dormitory rule violation confirmation form is to be submitted. Dormitory management committee may decide the level of penalty if necessary.

Article 11(Residence Management) ① Residents are to keep one’s residence and common area clean and preserve facilities.

② Residents are to actively participate in regular cleaning up for maintenance of pleasant living environment.

Article 12(Inspection) ① All residents are to actively participate in inspections on personnel, safety, hygiene and facility status.

② Dormitory manager enforces inspection in two way- regular inspection and occasional inspection. Head of dormitory shall decide the details.

③ The subject of regular and occasional inspections is dormitory manager.④ Any other kinds of inspections shall be enforced by suitable subject of

management.

Article 13(Dormitory Check-out) ① Rent properties of dormitory should be returned upon check-out, and check-out inspection should follow.

② Disloyal cooperation to above can cause penalty and future residence can be restricted.

③ Any individual property left in dormitory after the allowed check-out date can be processed by dormitory manager without asking excuse.

Article 14(Reward) Any exemplary behavior and contribution to dormitory environment improvement of resident shall be rewarded via reward points or other suitable ways.

Article 15(Penalty) ① Any disobedience to dormitory rules and regulations may cause eviction or disciplinary measure accordingly.

② Disciplinary Committee shall decide the details of eviction and disciplinary meaure(kind, time period, suspension, etc).

③ Any objection to result of ① and ② should be submitted to dormitory manager within 10days of announcement. Dormitory manager can revise the penalty through discussion with committee upon Dean of Admission’s approval.

supplementary provision(2015.04.20.) ① (enforement date) The rule is enforced from the date of approval from

DGIST President. ② (interim measures) Any action taken before enforcement of the rule is

considered to follow the rule.

1. Penalty impose criteria 가. Penalty points will be charged for those who violate the rules. 나. Penalty points will be accumulated for 1year, and student discipline

committee will decide details of disciplinary measure accordingly.

2. Penalty Criteria 가. Penalty points are enforced by dormitory manager. Application follows the

penalty criteria below. 나. Penalty can be imposed though a claim for damages, prosecution and student

scholarship committee. 다. Any residents who cause exceptional disorder of dormitory can be sentenced

eviction by Head of dormitory regardless of penalty points. 라. Any objection to penalty should be submitted to dormitory manager in 10

days from the announcement.3. Balance of points 가. Reward points can counterbalance the penalty points. This does not apply to

severe matters worth 10 penalty points and more. 나. Any exemplary behavior or contribution to improving residence shall be

rewarded according to decision of committee.

※ 생활관 내 반입금지물품은 위반(적발)일을 기준으로 10일 이내에 자택으로 택배를 보내지 아니할 시 사감실이 임의 처분합니다. (If you fail to send the prohibited items to your home via parcel service within 10 days since its date of discovery. the dormitory manager office has right to dispose them.)

2. Emergency rescue, voluntary nursery3. Voluntary contribution to dormitory environment

improvement4. Enhancement of dormitory prestige, exmaplary behaviors in

community and other kind deeds5. Voluntary support to official events held by Residents

Committee

Reward point is accumulated for 1year starting from beginning of each spring semester. Maximum 5 points can be rewarded according to the criteria stated below. Reward is fixed as 1points per hour or decision of committee for special occasions.

※ Reward points can counterbalance penalty points.
