Seeds:

• National targets of SRR in focus while arranging seed production, procurement & supplies;

• Satisfactory Position of lifting of Breeders seed being maintained;

• Seed Multiplication Rate at SM Farms shall be improved through mechanization, development of Irrigation & other infrastructure;

• Availability of Foundation seed of all crops satisfactory except potato for which suppliers are not located yet;

• However high altitude varieties HS240 and HS 375 not available in sufficient quantities;

• Oilseeds and pulses prioritized under RKVY and MMA Scheme specially in dryland areas;

• Tie up arrangements made with NSC and SFCI to meet the 6300 qtl deficit of Certified Oats seed;

• Focus on adequate number of Seed Villages for Certified Seed Production & Quality Seed Production;

• NSC yet to confirm availability and rates of wheat varieties.

• 100% seed Treatment of Major crops envisaged;

• Seed Treatment Drums to be provided in each panchyat;

• Demonstrations on yellow sticky traps in Mustard to minimize damage by Mustard Aphids and economize on Plant Protection measures

• Pheromone Traps shall be demonstrated in the pea crop area at 1 month crop stage @ 15 – 18 No’s per ha to control Pea Pod borer (Helicoverpa armigera) pest at early stage;

• Pheromone Traps shall be used from 1 month crop stage @ 15 – 18 No’s per ha to control Diamond Back Moth pest (Plutella xylostella) in cabbage and cauliflower at early stage;

• Coordinated training programmes and field visits shall be organized under IPM Module with SKUAST experts, CIPMC.

• National Vegetable Initiative Scheme for Urban Clusters (NVIUC) being implemented since 2011-12 to set in motion the virtuous cycle of production and income for the farmers and assured supply to consumers;

• Outlay of Rs 12 crores has been approved for the year 2012-13, Rs 6 crores each for Jammu and Srinagar

• Baseline survey work has been completed and formulation of farmers Producers Company and FIG is in progress by Companies recommended by SFAC.;

• The latest strains of mushrooms with High Biological efficiency to be introduced;

• Private spawn suppliers have been roped in to cater to the high requirement of spawn;

• Formation of Mushroom Growers’ Societies shall be pursued to facilitate end to end linkage in production, post harvest management and marketing;

• Exposure visit of the farmers outside in progressive mushroom growing areas/institutions.

• Bee Breeders shall be developed and trained on improved methods for quality brood production.

• Law Enforcement Agency shall be galvanized to have more effective check on quality of inputs.

Process for Appointment of State and District Level Consultants and Technical Assistants initiated;

Farm Machinery being specially provided for Basmati and hybrid paddy Growing areas;

The Norms of Assistance for Sprinkler Irrigation component (i.e. Rs.7500 per hect. are not encouraging for farmer as the actual cost involved per hectare for the purpose is Rs.50000 and more. The norms of Demonstration under National Mission on Micro-Irrigation need to be adopted.

• State Extension Work Action plan recommended by State IDWG encompasses agri., horticulture, animal and sheep husbandry, sericulture, fisheries and floriculture sectors consistent with farming systems approach;

• Group approach to extension in line with the identified needs and requirements of the farmers in the form of CIGs and FIGs adopted with convergence of programmes in planning execution & implementation at all levels;

• Gender concerns addressed by mobilizing farm women into groups and providing training to them;

• Moving towards sustainability of extension services through beneficiary contribution;
