Artists face the dilemma of whether and how to engage politically and socially through their art. If they participate intensively in political and social life, they run the risk of their works being re-jected as propaganda or as non-artistic. If they deviate from politics and the social environment, they are accused of producing autonomous, alien art l’art pour l’art. The workshop explores different types of politically engaged art that contribute to democratic processes as well as the limitations of documentary media in the digital age.
