As I was looking through family photos, I
was reminded of my grandmothers
tomato canning sessions.
(Perimeter equation, isolating l)
Lets do some math, since perimeter is 2l
+2w and I have 64 feet of fencing, we
need to insert and isolate a variable

insistence on home-grown tomatoes.

Since area is length times width, I can
substitute my previous expression to get A
= -w2 +32w.

I have decided to grow my own tomatoes
in a garden. I have 64 feet of fencing.

When we graph the quadratic function or
use algebra, we find the vertex is (16,
256).
