Nordic Sustainability pioneersStorebrand was the first Norwegian company to establish a dedicatedsustainable investment department in 1995 and has one of the mostexperienced ESG teams in the Nordic region. Its group-wide sustainableinvestment policy, which applies to all assets under management, is built onover twenty years’ experience and based on three pillars: Exclusions,Integration and Active Ownership. Each method is applied in differentcircumstances and provides alternative investment outcomes. We believe thefull potential of a sustainable investment strategy is only realised whenapplying the approaches together.

Storebrand’s exclusion policy – the Storebrand Standard – prohibits anyinvestment in companies involved in tobacco or weapons, contributingextensively to climate change or with significant revenue from unsustainableproducts (e.g. coal, oil sands, palm oil) or those that violate internationallaws, conventions and human rights.

Storebrand’s proprietary Sustainability Rating system evaluates over 3,000companies on their ESG risks and opportunities aligned with the UN’sSustainable Development Goals. This analysis is then systematicallyintegrated into the investment processes used by portfolio managers to
