Have a jolly moment with Santa! The Grade School Student Council

would like to invite all the young Valiant Knights to grab the opportunity to HAVE A PHOTO WITH SANTA. This project of the GS Student Council aims to collect simple toys as early Christmas presents to the street children. The interested students may bring their simple toy donations on December 06. In exchange for

the toys, they may bond and have a photo with our invited Santa. Toys that will be collected by Santa will be distributed to underpriviledged children in one of Santa’s outreach visits this Christmas season.

CITIZEN AWARD

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Forum is conducted and is attended to every term by the

Junior and Senior High School students in order to help them hone their entrepreneurial skills. This

activity is also a way for us to inspire and motivate

the students to be employers and not just employees

someday.

This CEO Forum which is associated with the Business subject, aims to expose the students to

different possibilities in the field of Business by

inviting different resource speakers who are experts in field and are considered as CEOs.

The CEO Forum will be today, December 04,

2017 at the SSIS Main Hall. All the participants are expected to wear business attire. The said attire can

be worn all through out the day or the students may opt to bring their school uniform and change after

the forum.

The Southville Global

Educational Network (SGEN) Academic

Olympiad is an annual competition

participated in by the different SGEN

Schools.

This event aims to challenge the

skills of the students in different fields

in order for them to develop the 5Cs.

Moreover, this activity also intends to

strengthen the bonds between the

students of the different SGEN Schools:

Southville International Schools and

Colleges (SISC), Stonyhurst Southville

International School Batangas (SSIS

Batangas), Stonyhurst Southville

International School Malarayat (SSIS

Malarayat), South Mansfield Colleges

(SMC), SEED Academy, and Southville

International Schools and Colleges

Affiliated with Foreign Universities

(SISFU).

The students from the said

schools are going to compete with each

other in the following contests: Spelling

Bee, Impromptu Speaking, and Quiz

Bee. In addition to those individual

contests, is the challenge for each

participating school to bring home the

Over-all Champion Award. Last year, it

was SISC who received the said feat.

This year, SSIS Batangas is going

to host the event and the school’s

representatives are undergoing

intensive trainings in order to bag the

Over-all Champion Award.

SSIS BATANGAS to host the

OF THE WEEK Being true to oneself/

one’s value

As parents, it's natural for you to want to give your children the things

you didn't have. And in today's world, it's often easy to confuse the wants

of your children with their actual needs. Often you respond to every "I

want" because you can and it makes you feel good, not necessarily

because you should. Especially during the holidays, many of you tend to

give generously to your children even those who typically practice

moderation.

There are an infinite number of toys, games, and treats in today's

world. And no matter how much your children have, they will always

want more, and there will always be a friend who has more. How can we

change this mindset and raise caring and giving children that know the

importance of giving rather than getting? How do we avoid over spoiling

our kids during the holidays? Here are some tips on how you can teach

your children to moderate their wants, be thankful for what they have,

and give to others.

1. Encourage empathy

Generosity starts with thinking about how others feel. Children are

naturally egotistical, but parents can cultivate empathy by helping

children imagine how others feel. Choosing something special to give

to someone their own age will make kids feel more connected.

2. Praise generous deeds

Children will naturally do nice things for others from time to time. If you

notice a nice gesture, like sharing a toy, giving a compliment or helping

carry in groceries, praise your child for the behavior. Positive recognition

for something makes a child more likely to continue doing it.

3. Set an example

From the moment they’re born kids look to parents for cues on how to

behave. Talking to kids about giving back is important, but setting an

example of generosity in your own life — including an elderly relative in

plans, volunteering at the school fair, pitching in with the dishes after a

big dinner — shows kids you really mean it.

Do you want your kids to grow up to be generous adults? Christmas is

the perfect time to explore and model empathic responses to the less

fortunate. Let’s wrap this Christmas in generosity!
