WHY CATHOLIC?

All parishioners are invited to be part of “WHY CATHOLIC?”

by joining a small, faith sharing group which will meet once a

week for 6 weeks during Lent.

You can join a “WHY CATHOLIC?” group by filling out a

Registration card in the back of the Church or at the Rectory

and a group leader will contact you about being part of a group

that will meet on a day and time that fits your schedule! Groups

will begin meeting during the last week of February.

NO COST BREAST CANCER SCREENING The American-Italian Cancer Foundation will have a

“Mobile Unit” here at St. Michael’s to provide No-Cost

Breast Cancer Screenings for women, age 40 and over, who

have not had a Mammogram in the last 12 months on

Sunday, February 23rd from 9:00am-4:30pm. Anyone

interested can contact the Rectory at 718-768-6065 or

877-628-9090 to make an appointment.

The United States CENSUS 2020

Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens

have partnered with the office of the United

States Census of NYC to ensure that every

resident of the two boroughs is correctly

represented. Our communities will receive the

financing to improve our housing,

education, transportation, job market, and

public policy. Correct census reporting will

allow us to receive our “fair share” of federal

social and financial benefits.

ADULT SACRAMENTS

** Classes will begin on

Monday, February 10th at 7:00pm.**

Any adult who has received Baptism and has not received

Communion and/or Confirmation may register at the Rectory

for preparation classes to receive the Sacraments this Spring.

You will need to bring your Birth and Baptism Certificates. If

you have any questions or would like more information you

DRIVERS LICENSES FOR ALL 352 42nd Street in the St. Michael’s Chapel New York Communities for Change is offering a free

workshop on how to obtain a drivers license regardless of

immigration status! This event will take place on

Wednesday, February 12th at 6:30pm. For more

ext. 211.

SECOND COLLECTION Today's Second Collection is for the ongoing "Repair and

Renovation" of our Church Buildings. The "R & R"

Collections will be helping us to pay for the Renovation of

the Pope Francis Center. We ask all parishioners to be as

generous as possible and thank everyone for their

sacrifices and generous support!

COMMUNITY WEDDINGS

We are beginning the preparations for our annual celebration of

a “Community Wedding”. We will have a meeting on Sunday,

March 1st at 3:00pm in the Rectory for all couples who are

interested. Also, any couple who is interested can make an

appointment to speak with Fr. Kevin or Fr. Eduardo by calling

the Rectory (718-768-6065). We encourage couples who are interested to make an appointment to speak with one of the

priest before the end of February.

PARISH COUNCIL

Our next parish council meeting will be held in

the Chapel SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH AT

1:30PM. All are welcome to attend!

SPIRITUAL RETREAT FOR CHILDREN

There will be a free spiritual retreat for children of the

CCD Program as well as from the parish on Sunday,

February 23rd from 12pm to 4pm. There will be a

showing of the Miracle of Marcelino movie along with

many fun activities! Please see flyer for details.

PRE-K REGISTRATION It’s time to apply for Universal Pre-k, the city’s free,

high-quality program for children born in 2016.

Financial Report

Generations of Faith Campaign – Pledges and Donations In February of 2015, we (and all the parishioners and parishes of the Diocese) were asked by Bishop DiMarzio

to be part of the Generations of Faith Campaign and make a five-year pledge to:

1. Care for our Retired Priests, 2. Promote Youth Evangelization, and 3. Support a “Parish Project” – here, at

St. Michael’s, the Parish project was the RENOVATION of the Pope Francis Parish Center. Here at St. Michael’s, we received a Total of: 219 Pledges for a total $457,653 pledged to Generations of Faith From the Original 219 Pledges, so far:

82 parishioners have COMPLETED their Pledges and donated $152,583*

39 parishioners are “on time” in fulfilling their and have donated $87,519* of the $106,900 pledged.

58 parishioners are “behind” or have not continued, but have donated $43,122* of the $124,500 pledged.

40 parishioners made pledges totaling $73,670, but did not make any donation to the Campaign.

We THANK ALL those who have supported and continue to support the Generations of Faith Campaign and there

is still TIME, if you are behind on your pledge or would like to help – please call the Rectory at

(718-768-6065) for more information or if you have questions. *** A total of $283,224 has been donated to the Generations of Faith Campaign.

Our parish received, in return $121,900.00. The Diocesan Projects received a total of $161,324.00, of which $121,900.00 supports the

Retired priests and Youth evangelization programs. Our parish’s 2015 obligation to the Annual Catholic Appeal was paid with the

remaining $39,425.00 .

Pope Francis Center Renovation – Costs/Expenses: 1. Contractor - $642,000 (Original Estimate - $286,950)

2. Construction Materials - $74,209 (Renovation work completed by parish volunteers)

3. Exterior (front) & Windows - $147,500

4. Security & Technology - $52,834

5. Preparation/Study/Architects - $36,676

6. Furniture & Equipment - $23,560

TOTAL - $976,779

“Repair and Renovation” (R & R) 2nd Collections In the 2016-17 fiscal year, after having paid off the debt for the Repair of the Church Tower, we began to dedicate

the “R & R” 2nd collections to help pay for the “PFC Renovation”. Those collections have been and are a great help,

so we encourage all our parishioners to continue to be as generous as you can.

In the last three “fiscal years” (Sept. 1 – Aug. 31st), the “R & R” 2nd Collections have raised:

2016-17 - $89,464

2017-18 - $103,397

2018-19 - $136,585

Total – $329,446

SUMMARY: 1. THANK YOU to all our generous, faithful parishioners!! 2. We’re doing well, but we still have “a

lot to do”. 3. There is still time to contribute to Generations of Faith; and 4. Please continue to be as generous as you

can, especially in the “R & R” 2nd Collections!!

Reparación y Renovación "2ª Colecciones" (2016 - 2019)

Informe financiero

Campaña Generaciones de Fe - Promesas y Donaciones En febrero de 2015, el Obispo DiMarzio nos pidió, a todos los feligreses y parroquias de la Diócesis que fuéramos

parte de la Campaña de las Generaciones de Fe y prometiéramos cinco años para:

1. Cuidar de nuestros sacerdotes jubilados, 2. Promover la Evangelización Juvenil y 3. Apoyar un "Proyecto Parroquial": aquí, en San Miguel, el proyecto parroquial fue la RENOVACIÓN del Centro Parroquial Papa Francisco. En San Miguel, recibimos un total de: 219 promesas por un total de $457,653 para Generaciones de Fe. De las 219 Promesas Originales, hasta ahora:

82 feligreses han completado sus promesas y han donado $152,583 *

39 feligreses están "a tiempo" en el cumplimiento de su promesa y han donado $87,519 * de los $106,900

prometidos.

58 feligreses están "atrasados" o no han continuado, pero han donado $43,122 * de los $124,500 prometidos.

40 feligreses hicieron promesas por un total de $73,670, pero no hicieron ninguna donación a la Campaña.

AGRADECEMOS A TODOS los que han apoyado y continúan apoyando la Campaña de Generaciones de Fe y

todavía hay TIEMPO, si está atrasado en su compromiso o si desea ayudar, llame a la Rectoría al

*** De los $ 283,224 que han sido donados, hasta ahora, $121,900 han sido recibidos por la parroquia,

$161,324 han sido destinados a los Proyectos Diocesanos: $121,900 a sacerdotes jubilados y evangelización juvenil;

La obligación de nuestra parroquia en 2015 con la Campaña Católica Anual se pagó con los $39,425.00 restantes.

"Reparación y renovación" (R & R) 2ª Colección

En el año fiscal 2016-17, después de haber pagado la deuda por la Reparación de la Torre de la Iglesia, comenzamos

a dedicar las segundas colecciones "R & R" para ayudar a pagar la "Renovación de PFC". Esas colecciones han sido

y son de gran ayuda, por lo que alentamos a todos nuestros feligreses a que sigan siendo lo más generosos posible.

En los últimos tres años fiscales, del 1 de septiembre al 31 de agosto, las segundas colecciones "R & R" han

generado:

2016-17 - $ 89,464

2017-18 - $ 103,397

2018-19 - $ 136,585

Total - $ 329,446
