In this picture Annie is doing an asana called “little bird,” which is used to develop the ability to do a head stand.

We do yoga almost every afternoon for an hour or so.

We do yoga upstairs in what we expect will eventually serve the next owners of this house as a master bedroom ensuite; for us it is the play room, a bare open space with lots of light.

The gardenThe food garden is forming. A thick layer of poppy marc was dug in during winter but as of mid-September has not yet much decomposed. Still, the first sowings have come up and seem to be growing lustily despite the massive fungal growth in what appears to be more organic matter than soil.

The red volcanic soil here is a loam, deep and rock-free, but with a fair content of clay, so when wet it “clags” the shoes.

This old “X” frame, made of treated 4 x 2s, should last decades. It grows climbing peas (Sugar Snap in this case) on one side and climbing French beans on the other.

The lemon tree is in a prime position where frost is least likely.
