STEPS FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADVISEMENT
STEP I. DETERMINE WHAT COURSE(S) YOU NEED TO COMPLETE YOUR
DEGREE
1. Go to RCC Home Page (www.sunyrockland.edu) and click on the Quick Links
menu.
2. Scroll down to the Web Resources section then click on the Web Advisor link.
3. Click the Log in menu to log into Web Advisor.

4. Enter your User ID and Password (Note: This is the same as the username
and password for your myRCC and RCC gmail account).
5. Click on the Students link.

6. Click on the Program evaluation link located under the Academic Profile
section.
7. Select the desired degree program from the What if I changed my program
of study? drop-down menu. (Note: The All (includes planned) option will be
selected by default).
8. Click the Submit button.

9. Click on the radio button of the desired catalog. (Note: The catalog chosen
should be the year you started at RCC, however, no student is permitted to
graduate using a degree sheet that is more than five (5) years old. A student
must have successfully completed at least one course in order for the five-year
period to begin.).
10. Click the Submit button.
11. Review on screen program evaluation to determine what courses are still
required for graduation. (Note: All courses should be reviewed and confirmed
with your academic advisor).

STEP II. MAKE A TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
1. If you are logged into Web Advisor please go to step 2. If you are not logged into Web Advisor please complete steps 1 - 5 in the STEP I section (Page 1).
2. Click on the Student Menu link.
3. Click on the Search for Sections link located under the Registration section.

4. There are several ways to search for course sections, following are some
examples:
Searching for courses via Subject:
Searching for courses via Course Number (optional):
o To further narrow down your search, you can enter a course
number in the Course Number field then click the Submit button:

Searching for courses via additional modifier fields (optional):
o You can also narrow your search by using one or more of the
following modifiers:
5. Click the Submit button to get your Section Selection Results.

A. Term – Semester and year (ex. Fall 2012) B. Status – whether the class is Open or Closed C. Section Name and Title – Section Name and Title of the Course
CRJ 101 = Section Name, 002 = Section Number, Intro to Crim Just & PS = Title
Note: A letter in the Section Number denotes that it is not a regular face-to-face class (See examples below). You must investigate further.
CRJ*101*001S - Online classes have an S code, ART*221*001H - Honors course section numbers end with an H code. ENG*101-LC3 - Learning Communities have a LC code, HIS*201*H71 - Haverstraw classes have an H code at the beginning of
the section number. D. Location – Campus Location E. Meeting Information - Tells the day(s) and times the class meets as well
as the building and room number F. Faculty - Instructor teaching the course G. Available Capacity – how many seats are open and how many seats the
class holds H. Credits – Number of class credits. (Note: Most classes are 3 credits. If
they are 4 credits then a Lab is usually involved on another day. You must investigate further).
6. Write down your tentative schedule and bring it with you to advisement. It should look like the following example:
ENG (Dept.), 101(Course#), 002 (Section #), English Comp 1 (Title), 3 (Credits), MWF (Days), 10-1050 (Time)
OR
ENG 101 002, English Comp 1, 3 Credits, MWF, 10-1050
CRJ 203 001, Criminal Investigation, TR, 9:30-1045
Note: The above tentative schedule is just an example, not actual course offerings for the next semester.

STEP III. BE ADVISED AND “CLEARED” BY A CRIMINAL JUSTICE
PROFESSOR
Once you have made your schedule and you want to sign up for 12 or
more credits, you MUST sign up for an appointment (the list will be on
the door of room 8240 in the Technology Center), come to the Criminal
Justice department to be advised and “cleared” in the system.
Note: If you sign up for less than 12 credits you don’t have to be
“cleared” by an advisor.
STEP IV. NOW GO AND REGISTER ONLINE
