Join us this Wednesday, October 24, for the fifth week in our series The Great Ends of the Church ––the promotion of social righteousness (meal 5:45-6:15, program 6:15-7:15). Dinner reservationsrequested. We welcome friends of all ages to gather TOGETHER each week as we grow in our faithand celebrate our love for one another. So join us for food, fellowship, and learning together!

Menu: roasted pork tenderloin, wild rice, fresh steamed broccoli, whole wheat rolls, dessert

Interested in Mentoring?Mentor Upstate is an organization mobilizing adult mentors forchildren in Greenville County Schools. Mentors are assigned astudent with whom to eat lunch at school once a week—a thirty-minute obligation. The benefit is a supportive, encouraging adultpresence in the life of a young person who needs it.

meeting at Lake Forest Elementary has garnered some newmentors for our neighbors there. If enough John Knox membersindicate interest, we can host an informational session here atthe church. While we are especially interested in building ourconnection with Lake Forest, your mentoring can occur in anyparticipating Greenville County school.

Save the Date: Women’s Retreat 2019We’re shifting the focus of this year’s women’s retreat and designing a more personalized experienceby emphasizing the importance of creativity and self-care to our spiritual growth.As women, our thoughts and actions are almost solely focused on those around us. We nurture, caretake, plan and stress over our loved ones. We are the task master, counselor and rock for whicheverything and everyone relies on. But without care and attention, even the strongest of foundations willcrack.At our “Faithfully Creative” women’s retreat, we’ll connect with our inner artisan as we learn theimportance of creativity and self-care as a spiritual discipline. Through breakout sessions and smallgroup discussion you’ll have the opportunity to learn new techniques to inspire and feed your soul inways that bring you closer to God.Please mark your calendar and join us on Saturday, February 23 for a day of enrichment and growth.Childcare will be provided. More information will follow in the coming weeks.

Prayer for the Jr. HighRetreatThis weekend our middle school students andtheir adult leaders will travel to BonclarkenConference Center for a weekend retreat with ourbrothers and sisters in Foothills Presbytery.Please join us in prayer for their safety, growth,and fellowship with one another. NO YOUTH GROUP this week!Just a reminder that we will not gather for regular programs this Sunday night due to the special eventsat Bonclarken and Triune! We look forward to being back with you next week!

Sr. Highs @ TriuneAll high school students are invited to join us in serving dinner to our neighbors in need at Triune MercyCenter THIS SUNDAY! Please meet in the parking lot outside of the Fellowship Hall at 3:30 in order toload the meal into cars and travel downtown. We should return to the church by 6!

Youth Outing to Denver Downs!Instead of regular youth programs next Sunday,we will enjoy the Fall season with a road trip toDenver Downs! All youth (and any parents willingto join us) are invited to meet at the church at 3 tohead out for a night of exploring the corn mazeand dinner together! Students are asked to bringmoney for their Denver Downs admission,$15/person, the church will cover dinner costs.We should return to John Knox by 7:30.
