summary

GERMANY

- In Germany the total installed PV capacity is 35GWp (world wide ca.

120GWp); that corresponds to 5% electricity from PV

-The “Energy Turn Around” in Germany has to be done collectively with

all the alternative energies (good energy mix, smart-grid, storage)

GENERAL

- PV producers are at the moment in a crisis due to overcapacity; but

new markets are fast created

- c-Si modules costs are around 0.5€/Wp; total turn-key PV systems

for 1.50 €/Wp >>> this gives translated ca. 10ct/kWh

- 30 GW PV-market will move to 100 GW market in 2020

- PV is for countries with plenty of sun the best electricity source to

get independent (Hermann Scheer)

overall summary

If the energy turn around with PV (in combination with other

renewables) works in Germany, it works far better in Latin

America and other southern places. PV electricity generation

in 2013 can be done in Germany for 10ct/kWh.

- higher yearly irradiation

- stable irradiation during the year

- more need for decentralized systems

>> adapted solutions needed (e.g. desert module)

>> effective solutions for storage needed (also micro-grids)

>> good political and economical surroundings has to be

established
