Data logging is a core element within the Audi tool chain. It is used for fully automated analysis of vehicle data throughout the development process chain. The electronic development at Audi records and evaluates about 800 to 1000 GB per trial week. As a result, a robust and comprehensive data logger technology is needed to meet the high quality standards at Audi.

With TTXDataLogger TTTech Automotive brought a recording tool to the market that exceeds today’s most demanding requirement profiles. As a high-performance, open and scalable platform, this data logger is prepared for future requirements. The technology within this product motivated AUDI AG to become a development partner.

TTXDataLogger provides the availability of recording data of all current bus systems like CAN, FlexRay®, LIN, MOST25, MOST150 and Ethernet, that are synchronized by a central time stamp. Using the established measurement and calibration protocols CCP and XCP, internal ECU signals can also be recorded. Data extracts are made with the help of smart programmable triggers and filters. The configurable power management of TTXDataLogger can be adapted to different requirements in order to minimize power demand. The wake-up of the device can be triggered through all bus systems or through external events.

The TTXDataLogger sets the benchmark for recording and analysis of all vehicle bus data, for on-board recording as well as for the subsequent evaluation. I am pleased that this ambitious tool for quality assurance has been implemented successfully.

Audi utilizes the TTXDataLogger for data recording as well as fault analysis during function testing, fleet tests and acceptance runs. Logging periods may vary from a few hours to several days in a row. Thus, Audi puts great emphasis on flexibility and ease of use.

Most important benefits for Audi include the easy configuration of the data logger for different vehicle types as well as the possibility to use own UserCode applications.

In order to meet these requirements TTXDataLogger offers not only an internal solid state drive with high capacity but also compact flash slots and USB ports for flexible use of external storage media.

A user-friendly remote control supports the test driver in comfortably controlling the device, enabling the driver to fully concentrate on the test rack. By using an innovative concept of comprehensive recording of all vehicle data, TTXDataLogger allows analyzing of sporadic errors. A data filter function also provides for the necessary flexibility within the error elimination process.

We are happy to work with Audi as a lead customer and development partner for this new generation of data logging devices. We are convinced that the TTXDataLogger will help OEM’s substantially in their quest for ever increasing quality.
