AZ-SLDS Overview
• Arizona Department of Education (ADE) building a Arizona Student Longitudinal Data System (AZ-SLDS) system with support from the Maricopa County Education Service Agency (MCESA) and Arizona State University (ASU) for the SFSF K-12 and post secondary requirements.

AZ-SLDS Component:ASU Next (Ready for Rigor)
• ASU, MCESA and ADE working together with 16 K -12 school districts to provide data on teacher and student course connections.
• This will produce three objectives for the ASU Next grant requirements:1. increasing rigor and inquiry in pre-teacher education programs (RIPTEP), 2. reform of ASU’s district based Professional Development School teacher education
programs around the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) model and a statewide school-university partnership network for school reform,
3. professional development and educator support services in urban and rural partner districts

Scope and Requirements:ASU / MCESA: A teacher Identifier system with ability to match teachers to students
MCESA : Ensure students graduate college-ready by increasing student achievement and growth in all content areasMCESA : Enhance careers for effective teachers and principals by implementing a fiscally sustainable, performance-based compensation systemMCESA: Develop talent in teaching and leading through a sustainable, comprehensive program of performance-based evaluation and supportASU / MCESA / ADE: AIMS Scores for the previous year and the current year (i.e. consecutive years) will be identified and extracted for Student “A” This combination of data – Student/Teacher/Grade/Course – will be applied by ASU to a Value-Added Growth Model to determine Teacher Effectiveness, Student Growth and Teacher Performance Incentive PayoutASU / MCESA / ADE: Migration of the student/teacher/course data from district level SIS systems and HR systems for a specified job time to be pushed to ADE portal to ADE database
Background:ADE in conjunction with MCESA and ASU are collaborating to accomplish the goals of the SFSF, REIL , Next and Ready for Rigor grant requirements

• The SFSF project(s) consists of two parts: K-12 and Post Secondary data collection and reporting, including establishing the linkage between P20 Students.
AZ-SLDS Overview
K-12 data :• Teacher performance evaluation for performance management• benchmarking•school improvement high school feedback report teacher preparation value-added recommendations.
K-12 and Post Secondary students linkage: • anticipates student needs for proactive intervention,• enables targeted student readiness programs based on demographics of incoming students• increases opportunity for discussions with K-12 regarding students in transition.
Result?Effective planning of improvement actions for increased student learning.

AZ-SLDS Component:MCESA REIL
REIL: Rewarding Excellence in Instruction and Leadership
• Six Maricopa County school K-12 districts will implement change aimed at transforming how schools, recruit, train, support and compensate effective teachers and principals. • Goal is building the capacity of Educators to improve student learning. • ADE working with MCESA will be designing and building the system(s) to support the AZ-SLDS Data warehouse for the teacher-student-course connection.
