Who are NAMI & JED?

• Non-profits working to improve the lives of teens, young adults and families

• NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans impacted by mental health conditions. NAMI includes 900+ state and local affiliates and volunteers across the country raising public awareness, providing education and support and advocating for improved services and support.

• JED exists to protect emotional health and prevent suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults. JED partners with high schools and colleges to strengthen mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention programs and systems. JED equips teens and young adults with the skills and knowledge to help themselves and each other. JED encourages community awareness, understanding and action for young adult mental health.

What do we know about mental health conditions in youth and young adults?

• 1 in 5 lives with a mental health condition.

• 50% of all lifetime cases of mental health

conditions begin by age 14.

• 75% of all lifetime cases of mental health

conditions begin by age 24.
