    INTRODUCTION

    Congratulations on purchasing an Ozito Staple/Nail Gun.We aim to provide quality tools at an affordable price. Wehope you will enjoy using this appliance for many years.

    Your Staple/Nail Gun OZSNG16A has been designed forfastening various materials such as fabric, wood, gauze,cardboard, leather etc. It is intended for DIY use only.

    Warning! When using mains-powered equipment, basic safety precautions,including the following, should always be followed to reduce risk of fire,electric shock, personal injury and material damage.

    Read and understand the manual prior to operating this tool.

    Save these instructions and other documents supplied with this tool for future reference.

    The electric motor has been designed for 230V and 240V only. Always check that thepower supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.

    Note: The supply of 230V and 240V on Ozito tools are interchangeable for Australiaand New Zealand.

    If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an electrician or a power toolrepairer in order to avoid a hazard.

    This tool is double insulated in accordance with AS/NZS3100; therefore no earth wire is required.

    Note: Double insulation does not take the place of normal safety precautions whenoperating this tool. The insulation system is for added protection against injuryresulting from a possible electrical insulation failure within the tool.

    Using an Extension Lead

    Always use an approved extension lead suitable for the power input of this tool. Beforeuse, inspect the extension lead for signs of damage, wear and ageing. Replace theextension lead if damaged or defective.

    When using an extension lead on a reel, always unwind the lead completely. Use of anextension lead not suitable for the power input of the tool or which is damaged ordefective may result in a risk of fire and/or electric shock.

    It is recommended that the extension lead is a maximum of 25m in length. Do Not usemultiple extension leads.

    GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

    Warning! Read all instructions, Failure to follow all instructions listedbelow may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term“Power Tool” in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mainsoperated (corded) power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool.

    SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

    1) WORK AREA

    a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.

    b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in thepresence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparkswhich may ignite the dust or fumes.

    c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.Distractions can cause you to lose control.

    2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY

    a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in anyway. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.

    b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes,radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electricshock if your body is earthed or grounded.

    c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering apower tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

    d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling orunplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges ormoving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

    e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable foroutdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

    3) PERSONAL SAFETY

    a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense whenoperating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired orunder the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment ofinattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

    b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment suchas dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used forappropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

    c) Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position beforeplugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging inpower tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

    d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. Awrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result inpersonal injury.

    e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Thisenables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

    f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair,clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or longhair can be caught in moving parts.

    g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collectionfacilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devicescan reduce dust related hazards.

    4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

    a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it wasdesigned.

    b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any powertool that can not be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

    c) Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments,changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measuresreduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

    d) Store idle power tools, unplugged & out of the reach of children and do notallow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operatethe power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

    e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power toolsoperation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Manyaccidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

    f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharpcutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

    g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with theseinstructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool,taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed.Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could result in ahazardous situation.

    5) SERVICE

    a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using onlyidentical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool ismaintained.

    • Never aim the gun at people or animals.

    • In the event of a staple or nail jamming within the gun, disconnect from the powersupply before attempting to clear the jam.

    • Keep your hands clear of where you are stapling or nailing.

    TOOL OPERATION

    Loading the Magazine with staples

    Prior to loading the magazine, ensure the tool has been disconnected from the power supply.

    1. Hold the tool upright as in Fig.1.

    2. Release the latch (4) and pull the magazine slide out to maximum travel.

    3. Insert a 12cm row of staples as shown in Fig. 2. Rows longer than this will not allow the magazineslide to be reassembled.

    4. Once the staples have been inserted, push themagazine slide back into the unit until it clips into place.

    Loading the magazine with nails

    1. Lay the tool on its side as shown in Fig. 3 withnosepiece (6) pointing to the right.

    2. Release the magazine latch (4) and slide the magazineout to maximum travel.

    3. Lay a 12cm row of nails in the the magazine as shown in Fig. 4. Rows longer than this will not allow the magazine slide to be reassembled.

    4. Once the nails have been inserted, push the magazine slide back into the unit until it clips into place.

    TOOL OPERATION (cont.)

    1. Load the staples/nails to the magazine as previously described.

    2. Connect the tool to a power supply.

    3. Push the power switch (2) to the "l" position.

    4. Hold the tool firmly against the work surface with the nosepiece of the tool atthe place where you want the staple/nail to be located. The staple/nail will exitthe tool just behind the safety striker pin (7).

    5. Push the tool firmly down on the work surface to depress the safety striker pin (7).Pull the trigger switch (1).

    6. When finished using the tool, turn the power switch (2) to the '0' setting.Disconnect the tool from the power supply and remove any remainingstaples/nails.

    • If necessary you can clean the staple/nail gun with a damp cloth. Do not usecleaning agents or solvents as these can damage the plastic components of the tool.

    Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any damage or injuries causedby the repair of the staple/nail gun by an unauthorised person or by mishandlingof the tool.
