Uniform
A reminder about our school uniform policy. Our policy requires students to wear closed shoes. This is a safety issue and given that it is ‘snake season’, it is another important safety reason for having the required footwear. For students wearing dresses, please make sure that shorts are worn underneath. We are a Sun Smart school and our policy is ‘no hat, no play’. Hats can be purchased at school for $5.00. Please make sure all clothing items, especially hats, are clearly named.

School Council Elections
Nominations for School Council are now open.
Nomination/Self Nomination forms are available from the office.
Please think how you might be involved in the future direction of your children.
Don’t leave it up to ‘someone else’! Closing date for nomination is 4.00pm,
Thursday 1st March. Forms are to be placed in the ballot box in the office.
Swimming
As our swimming program comes to a close, we will have some special arrangements for Friday’s fun activities and competitions. Students may choose to come dressed in their house colours; BLUE – WINTER & ORANGE – MCEWEN. Students will still need to wear closed shoes and hats to the pool and wear hats and sunscreen when not in the water, at the pool. All groups will walk down together, at 12.45pm, ready for a 1pm start for an afternoon of competitions and games organised by the instructors. Students will be allowed to bring money to spend at the kiosk. The kiosk will be only be open once teachers have determined that all events are finished and that those students returning to school are dressed and ready. We ask families attending during the afternoon, NOT to purchase items for their children until the kiosk is open for all students. This is in the interests of fairness and equity. Assembly will be held at the pool for the presentation of the House winner and other overall winners at approximately 2:50-3.00pm. Students with parents present may remain at the pool once an Early collection forms is signed. All other students will return to school in time for the 3:15 dismissal and bus. BYOD
Finally! Students with their own devices may bring them in from next Tuesday. But… please be aware that each device will need to be set up individually and this may take more than a single day. Please remember that we will need the Microsoft Office 365 Privacy Information and Consent form (blue highlighted headings) signed and returned, before anything can be set up on your child’s device. Clean Up Australia Day
Our school is registered as part of this program and will be doing our bit for Clean Up Schools Day on Friday March 2nd. Making our school an inviting and pleasant place for your children to learn is our ongoing aim. We have a list of jobs we need volunteers for, so if you know you’ll be available from 9.15am onwards, at any time during that Friday, please put your name down on the list at the office. Please note that we will require you to complete a ‘registration form’ as part of the volunteer process, and alert you to any foreseeable dangers and/or issues. Volun-teers who will be here over the school lunch time (1.30 -2.15pm) are invited to bring their own picnic lunch to eat with their children. Clean Up Day will continue after lunch until assembly time at 3.00pm.

Did you know: Australia has a population of 24 million and Indonesia has a population of 250 million!
Word of the week:
Apa Kabar? ₌ How are you?
Baik = good.
Try at home: Can you tell the story of the Kancil and the Buaya to your family members? It is an Indonesian folktale about a clever deer who tricks some crocodiles using the numbers 1-10.
WITH ELLIE
Students can come dressed in their house colours. Time TBA.
Parent helpers are needed on the day to give out ribbons, write down winners, etc.
Please write your name on the sheet at the office if you can help.
Friday 23rd February
From DET…
Bicycle riding to and from school Parents/carers are responsible for children riding bicycles to and from school. Note: Generally speaking, children under the age of twelve do not have the neuro-physiological and psychological development to cope with complex traffic situations on their own. Road safety authorities recommend that before the age of nine or ten years children should not ride a bicycle in traffic without adult supervision. Depending on their cycling skills and experience, some children over this age may still require supervision. Children under the age of twelve may ride on footpaths as may a supervising adult. They are required to give way to pedestrians and to wheel their bicycles over pedestrian and children’s crossings. Children aged twelve years or older are required by law to ride on the road Parents and students should be reminded that the law requires that all cyclists wear an approved bicycle helmet. Approved helmets have the Australian Standards Mark TM (AS/NZS 2063) and will be marked as suitable for cycling
