Standard 8 Educators contribute to the profession. Evidence: Dyslexia Presentation Reflection: I chose my dyslexia presentation as evidence that I contribute to the profession. This presentation was given to my fellow classmates as a way to shed light on the prevalent learning disability dyslexia. It highlights how an educator is able to recognize a student in their class that may be struggling with dyslexia and how one can go about teaching these particular students. Dyslexia is a learning disability that can hinder one’s ability to read, write, spell and sometimes even speak. Therefore, having to go through school with this disability can be very difficult. There are many signs that a dyslexic person will show early on in their education and its important as educators that we are aware of them so that early intervention is possible. There are a number of tests that can be done to determine if a student is dyslexic. There are also specific strategies a teacher can use in their classroom to make these students feel more comfortable with their learning; providing a safe and nurturing classroom is paramount in these. This powerpoint is an overview what an educator can do if they think they might have a dyslexic student within their classroom and is a valuable resource for all educators.
