Stainless steel 1.4501Grade 1.4501 is austeniticferritic also referred to as super duplex stainless steel, combine many of the beneficial propertiesof ferritic and austenitic steels. It offers enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in environments, where standardstainless and duplex steels are unsuitable. The duplex microstructure contributes higher strength and resistance to stresscorrosion cracking, combined with good weldability features.
Applications:• Components in offshore
• Waste water
• Sea water desalination
• Chemical plants with aggressive chloridecontaining media: heat exchangers, separator parts, compressor and pumpcomponents, turbine blades

Properties
General properties
• Hot forming temperature range is 11501000°C, air cooling
• Solution annealing temperature range is 10401120°C, air or water cooling
• Recommended application temperature range 10300°C, becomes brittle in higher temperatures
• Pitting and crevice corrosion resistance superior to EN 1.4404
• The yield strength is about twice that of austenitic steels, which enables savings in material weight
• Cold working requires substantially higher forces than for austenitic steels
• Due to the higher strength, spring back effect is also higher than for autenitic grades
• With a high speed steel tooling machining is able at the same feeds and speeds as with 1.4404
• 1.4501 can be welded by TIG,MIG, SMAW,SAW, FCW and PAW. Also applicable for laser, resistance and high frequencewelding.
