Maths (Paper & Online)

YOU MUST COMPLETE AT LEAST ONE ACTIVITY PER DAY. It has been highlighted for you.

Practice your times tables OR division tables EVERY DAY.

TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY

Using geometry, play Simon Says. Have family members create acute, obtuse and right

angles with their arms. Try having them make parallel and perpendicular lines.

Write and solve 5 expressions that require order of operations, e.g. 6 + 3 x 5 - 7.

Explain each expression and the order of operations to a family member.

Create a restaurant menu with appetisers, entrees and desserts. Use multiplication and division expressions instead of dollar amounts to show the price, e.g. instead of

$15, use $5 x $3.

Roll a die 2 times. The first roll is your numerator. The second roll is your

denominator. Use this fraction to complete the Fraction Fact File sheet. Show it to a family member when you have finished.

Choose a number between 1 and 100. Create a riddle about that number for your family to solve, e.g. I am a two-digit, even number. My second digit is a zero. If you divide me by two, I am 5 times as much as 5. What number am

I? 50!

Vowels are worth $50 and consonants are worth $40. Can you make a word that is

worth $280? How about $620? How much is your name worth?

Create a poster that shows the connection between multiplication and division. Use picture models and two-digit numbers.

Present the poster to your family.

Make a how-to guide for dividing a 4-digit number by a 1-digit number. Have a family member solve a division problem using the

guide you created.

Create a multi-step word problem that involves online shopping and has an answer of

$16.75. Have a family member solve the problem.

Use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast triangles and quadrilaterals.

Include at least 2 similarities and 2 differences.

The answer is 1/3. What could the question be? Create 3 word problems that

have 1/3 as an answer. Have a family member solve them.

Draw a pizza on paper. Cut it into fourths. Give each slice a different topping. How many pizzas do you need for each family

member to get 2 slices with the same topping? Repeat and cut the pizza into

sixths. Play a game of Rock Paper Scissors with a

partner. Hold up numbers with your fingers. The first person to say the product of the

numbers gets a point. The first player with 10 points wins. Try playing using two hands!

Grab 10 forks and 10 spoons from your kitchen. Create as many 2D shapes as you can with them. Can you make 3 different

by shapes using all 10 utensils?

The answer is $12.75. What could the question be? Write 2 multi-step word problems, one using addition and one using subtraction, where the answer is

$12.75. Have a family member solve both problems.

Create a poster that shows 4 examples of how we use decimals in everyday life. Use

illustrations to show your examples. Present the poster to your family.

your finger, slowly trace the perimeter of the shape while taking

Create a colouring page that contains a word explaining the

emotion you are feeling today. Fill each letter of the word with di-

fferent geometric shapes or patterns. When you are finished,

colour it in.

Get a piece of paper, a ruler and a pencil. Use the ruler to draw straight

lines from one edge of the page to the other. Draw lines in all directions. Decorate and colour each shape.

What famous landforms and/or national parks are in your state? Locate them on a map. Create a

brochure that describes each one and encourages people to visit.

Write a song or rap to describe what it is like learning at home. Be sure to add in as many descriptive

adjectives as you can.

slowly and calmly. See if you can do this in 3 minutes.

Create a physical education (PE) class for your family to participate in at the end of the day. Lead stretches, then

play a game.
