!Spring has finally arrived and we have been teased by some nice weather. Summer will be here before we know it!

I want to make sure I take this opportunity to thank Leslie Blevins form making our Ice Cream Social a huge success. She did an amazing job making sure the kids had a great night with their classmates. Also, thank you to Wrentie Martin who volunteered his time to D.J. the event. To every parent that donated their time or items for the basket raffle, we are so grateful. These events don’t happen without the help of all of you.

The new officers have been voted on and they are as follows:

Amy Smith: President Leslie Blevins: Vice President Sharon DiMaiolo: Second Vice President Candace Rivera: Treasurer Myrande Diroff: Recording Secretary Erin Vondran: Corresponding Secretary Debbi Beeman: Historian Joelle Steinhoff, Melanie Angiuli, and Christie Sweder: Delegates to Council !We will be looking to fill our committee chair positions soon, so please consider helping by either leading or taking part in a committee. !We still have Spartan Key Chains and Headbands for sale. They are $12 but the school gets to keep $6 for each item sold. If you would like one send a check to Stadium Drive PTA in and envelope marked Headband/Keychain and we will send them home with your student.

Our next PTA Meeting will be held in the Science Lab on April 21st at 9 a.m. Please try to attend as we need a good attendance to get our PTA business done. Our PTA Installation Luncheon will be held May 14th. If you would like to attend, email [email protected] for more information.

Have a great Spring Break and we will see you when classes resume!

During the month of April, the Kindergarten classes will be doing several learning activities about Spring, Earth Day, and Frogs. We will also be doing an author study on Eric Carle. Check out some of his amazing books in the public library! One of his most famous books is “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” The students will be very excited for the arrival of our caterpillars at the end of this month. They will get to watch the life cycle of a butterfly take place in their very own classroom! !In honor of Earth Day, Peggy Flynn from the Green Team will be visiting all three classrooms once again on Tuesday, April 21st to do a presentation titled “Recycle Everyday!” The students always LOVE when Mrs. Flynn visits. Go Green! !Have a great Spring!

The third grading period will come to an end on March 27th with report cards being sent home the following week. It is hard to believe that we will be entering our last grading period for the year! Hopefully spring weather is on the way! Spring break will be celebrated from April 3rd – April 10th.

Our first graders will continue working on our reading in guided reading groups. When reading ask your child questions about the text: What is the main idea? What are key details that support the main idea? Summarize, retell the story by beginning, middle, and end. We will focus on long vowels as well as word families. In math we will continue working on our addition and subtraction facts, fractions, place value, and time to the hour and half hour.

Please continue to read nightly with your child and review the reading skills that we are focusing on in the classroom. Addition and subtraction facts should be practiced nightly as we work hard to memorize our facts.

Thank you again for all of your support!

Mrs. Krestel, Miss Meli, and Mrs. Seifert would like to wish you a happy spring season. April marks the beginning of our last nine weeks as second graders. We will also be taking our STAR math and reading tests for the last time this year! Our second graders are now strong, fluent readers. We will continue to focus on higher level comprehension. our family!

Happy Spring!! Third graders are learning 2 & 3 digit multiplication and will begin dividing with multiple digits. It is essential they know their math facts. We will be taking the math PARCC test again in April.

We will be working with more complex books. At this time, in second grade, the students should be reading ten to twenty minutes a night. We will be having our Book-It pizza parties this month. Students who completed Book-It each month will attend. The pizza parties will take place on April 2nd. In Math, we will focus on graphing. The students will learn how to graph data and answer questions by using the data. We will be working with picture and bar graphs. Please continue to practice math flashcards at home. Students should have these mastered by the end of second grade. In Science, we will study interactions within habitats. This life science topic focuses on how ecosystems work and how living things impact the environment. We will look into the different habitats on planet Earth and also learn a bit about the Jurassic period, a favorite among most students! Thank you parents for supporting your child’s learning. It is important for children to see a connection between school and home life. We hope you enjoy the upcoming spring break with your family!

Class time will also be devoted to reviewing all the skills and concepts we've learned so far this school year. Earth Day will also be celebrated on April 22nd.In science, we will work on matter and on rocks and minerals. The inventions that were done in March were fabulous! Thank You!! Our April reading party will be a trip to Kansas. Please make sure your child is reading nightly, and turning in miles. We will be reviewing synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms to better prepare for the end of April, Ohio Reading Achievement test. In Language Arts, students will begin to work on pronouns. This is often a difficult concept for third graders, please review at home.

!!!!!Mrs. Jacobs !Hopefully, everyone enjoyed a restful spring break and are ready to once again focus on learning and enjoy the warmer weather. !We have just finished up the unit on fractions and decimals. We will begin reviewing all the skills and concepts that the students have learned as a general review and in anticipation of the End of the Year PARCC math test. Some of the students have forgotten some of the multiplication and long division steps (even though we practice them weekly with the Math 4 Today). We will definitely be reviewing those concepts,as well as many others, and also be completing a some PARCC practice pages. !Mark your calendars for the dates of the upcoming PARCC tests. Part one of the math test will be on Tuesday April 28th and part two will be on Thursday April 30th. This end of the year test will, optimistically, be more like the OAA test that the students were all used to. !Mrs. Soles !We are so happy to welcome the change of season!

Mill Creek Park will leave us with a great memory for the introduction of Physical Science, but we won’t be getting back to Science until May! We will need to jump right back into Social Studies before Spring Break and then continue with Social Studies afterwards. We have more to learn before the end-of-year state test on Tuesday, May 5. Some topics to be covered include: the War of 1812, a divided U.S. and Ohio’s role in the anti-slavery movement, regions and populations in the U.S., Ohio’s contribution to technological innovations, and entrepreneurs and “money smarts”.
