FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - JULY 16, 2017

Dear Parishioners and Friends: I would like to express my thanks to the members of the Pastoral Council for generously taking

the me to meet each month to offer me advice and counsel for the successful management of St. Monica-St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. The members of the P.C. represent your voice on the Council so please let a member know your insights, and the item will be added to the agenda. The mission of the Pastoral Council is to enliven the Catholic faith of the parishioners by fostering increased par cipa on in liturgy, parish programs, and religious educa on. This goal can only be reached by the commitment of each parishioner because “we are the church.” Thank you for your faithfulness, your prayers, and your support over the past year. Let us con nue to make our parish spiritually strong as we work to make our buildings physically strong!

Sincerely yours, Fr. John Sakowski

Reflec on on the Gospel

The seed that falls on good ground will yield a

frui ul harvest.

Today, we are all farmers. God’s word is like the rain and the snow that come down to earth making the soil fer le and frui ul. In the Gospel, we are compared to all kinds of soil – shallow, rocky, thorny, and rich. The journey of faith, the life-long road of listening to God’s word, can be one or all of these types of soils. Today it is clear that we need to cul vate the soil so that it is rich and fer le. When the seed, the word of God, lands on this fer le soil, it has a be er chance of taking root and growing to maturity. How can I become be er soil this week?
