Vocations in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Here is some of the Good News of Vocations in 2017 This summer San Juan Diego House was renamed Queen of Angels Center for Priestly Formation. Our College house of formation, cur rently located in Gar-dena, will move to a new complex on the campus of Bishop Montgomery H.S. in Tor-rance next summer. 7 new Priests were ordained on June 3. 9 new Transitional Deacons just ordained on August 12. (To be ordained as Priests on June 2, 2018 —PLEASE SAVE THE DATE!) 21 new Seminarians entered this Fall 10 new men at St John’s Seminary 10 new men at Queen of Angels 1 new man at Seminario Hispano in Mexico City Plus 3 men who graduate in May from JDH and also entered 1st year of Theology at St. John’s Seminary 96 Total Seminarians for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

With school starting again, it’s likely that your children are participating in a variety of after-school activities. Many school sports and club programs are run by volunteers, often parents with kids of their own in the school. It’s important that the school or program takes measures to protect all students, but as parents, it’s critical that you follow up and confirm that the proper checks have been done. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles uses fingerprinting as its core background check. All persons, whether paid or volunteer, who have regular contact with minors or vulnerable adults are fingerprinted.

Intention Book will be available on Monday, September 18, 2017.
This year we will be allowing a total of 5 Masses per person only in order to be fair to all our parishioners. Only one intention allowed per Mass. We will not hold Masses over the phone, email or
via letter. All intentions must be made in person in the
rectory. We appreciate a $10.00 donation per Mass.
If you need to offer a Mass on a certain day and that
date is not available, please speak to the priest before the Mass begins.

Homeless Dinner Chairman New chairman needed for the homeless Dinner Ministry. The chairman coordinates getting cooks and food lined up once a month for a dinner for the less fortunate. En el mundo de la antigüedad los centinelas eran gente de gran importancia. Mantenían la seguridad de las comunidades y su deber era alertarles sobre cualquier peligro o ataque inminente. Antes de que hubiera cerrojos, sistemas de alarma y seguridad, los centinelas eran los protectores, la medida de seguridad. Así que cuando hoy el Señor le encarga a Ezequiel ser centinela, es un cargo de peso. Tan pesado, se nos hace conocer, que si Ezequiel falla y no da la voz de alarma a los que le rodean y ellos mueren en estado de maldad, ¡Ezequiel será el responsable! Este profundo vínculo entre la voluntad de Dios en la tierra y en el cielo se repite en el Evangelio de hoy, donde Jesús nos instruye que tenemos que ser la fuerza de seguridad, los centinelas colocados en estado de alerta para que en ninguna parte del Cuerpo de Cristo, la Iglesia, haya dos miembros del único Cuerpo que no estén reconciliados. La Sagrada Escritura nos dice que Jesús reconcilió todas las cosas en el cielo y en la tierra mediante la sangre de su cruz. Pero se nos da la misión de continuar esa reconciliación en la tierra por medio de nuestros incesantes esfuerzos de ser, como escribiera Pablo, embajadores de reconciliación. No nos quedemos muy cómodos pensando que nuestra única responsabilidad es mantenernos fuera del camino de la maldad y la discordia. También hemos de responder por la vida de los miembros de Cristo que nos rodean.
