Please be generous in this week’s special collection, which supports the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United States, one in six people live in poverty. Through this collection you support programs that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for people across the country who struggle. In addition, 25% of the funds we collect will remain in our diocese to fund local antipoverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and work on the margins. More information about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development can be found at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection.

Adult Ministry and Faith Formation: Because our faith is too rich and too beautiful to have ever learned it all…

Adult faith formation at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living “The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and

decision. To enable adults to explore the faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have learned along the way.

Spiritual Direction Available Spiritual direction is about being silent long enough to listen and having someone help you make sense of what you hear. St. Paul has trained lay spiritual directors who are available to meet with you. Contact Heidi for info: [email protected] or 281.333.3891, ext. 328.

Do you want to be Catholic? If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about becoming Catholic, we are here to help make that possible. Our RCIA program helps seekers hear and respond to God’s invitation. Contact Heidi at 281.333.3891, ext. 328 or [email protected].

Upcoming Topics at RCIA If you are a Catholic who is seeking to learn more about our faith, you are welcome to sit in on our RCIA sessions which take place in the conference room immediately after the 9 AM Sunday Mass and end by 11:30 AM. November 24: The Son of God

December 3: Advent and the Liturgical Year

December 10: The Incarnation

December 17: Salvation and Soteriology

Christmas Shopping Opportunity Make plans to get some Christmas shopping done early at our annual jewelry sale fundraiser after all the masses the weekends of November 30/December 1, and December 7/8. We’re offering a wide variety of beautiful and inspirational items at affordable prices.

Transportation Assistance Needed Throughout the year, we receive requests from parishioners who need assistance making it to doctor appointments. This is a ministry that can use your assistance whether you are available once a year or once a week. To volunteer, contact Malina at [email protected].

Advent Booklets are Coming! We are pleased to be able to offer you a wonderful resource to help you prepare throughout Advent for the coming of Christ. Rejoice: Advent Meditations with Joseph offers beautiful daily meditations that invite you to experience the first Advent with Joseph and Mary as they await the birth of Jesus. These special Advent meditation books will be on sale at the jewelry/Christmas market taking place in the narthex after all Masses the weekends of November 30/December 1, and December 7/8 for just $10.

Learn About your Faith on FORMED As a St. Paul parishioner, you have access to a wealth of Catholic resources on FORMED.org. To register, go to the Formed website and use our access code: Q8QMC7. You’ll get immediate access to hundreds of books, videos, movies, talks, and other wonderful resources for adults, families, and children in both English and Spanish.

PRO-LIFE News On 12/11/19, Travis Runnels is scheduled to be executed by the State of Texas. The death penalty violates both the Church’s pro-life teaching and the teaching on the inherent dignity of the human person as created in the image and likeness of God. Not only does the death penalty target innocent life, but also those with mental illness, intellectual disability and people of color. It also redirects funds that could be used to help victims’ families harmed by violence heal. (Catholic Mobilizing Network) Our Catholic faith calls us to pray for Rodney, Travis and for all victims of crime, and for an end to capital punishment here in the State of Texas. May God hear our prayers in support of all life.

I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you

welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me. Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of

these least brothers of mine, you did for me.

Blessings to the St Paul the Apostle parish and pastor for putting their faith into action by supporting the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP). Your financial contributions have helped neighbors in crisis with basic needs such as rent, utilities, medicine etc. Your donations have also provided basic non-perishable groceries to our neighbors and enabled the pantry to be regularly stocked with wholesome food for pennies on the dollar through the Houston Food Bank. The entire Vincentian family at St. Paul humbly and sincerely thanks you for giving us the opportunity to serve in this ministry and extending God's love to others on your behalf.

In the past, SVDP has overseen the collection of toys for Gift Giving Sunday in December. This year we want to do something different. As we head into Thanksgiving and Advent Season, we ask you to consider joining us in an ongoing Toiletries Drive instead of a Toy Drive. This drive will run from now until the last Sunday in Advent. Consider adding one item to your shopping list each week.

Please use this as an opportunity to reflect on the blessings our families receive and how we can use what God has given us to live our faith. Please place these gifts in the brown SVDP baskets located outside of the main sanctuary and elsewhere in the church.
