St. Paul Ushers Ministry needs you! We are looking for additional welcoming faces for the Ushers Ministry to serve at Mass on the weekends. You will join a monthly schedule serving 2 to 3 months per year. Please contact the parish office at 262-968-3865. Thank you!

Parish Needs

Let the Fall Begin!

Running can be a great form of exercise for not just the body, but also for the mind and soul. As one is running, the heart beats to its full capacity. As we start the month of September, the heart of our faith community now beats at full capacity as our Child, Youth and Adult Faith Formation Programs, as well as other parish activities, begin a new year.

For the Faith Formation Program, our K3-High School classes start the week of September 8th. Catechetical Sunday will be celebrated on Sept. 14th and 15th at all the Masses. During these Masses, we will recognize and pray for all of our catechists from the entire spectrum of Life Long Faith Formation. Catechists are formally commissioned for ministry to the community. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful oppor-tunity to reflect on the role that each baptized person plays in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. Please pray for our catechists and the students and adults in faith formation.

For the Parish, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) will offer a 30-minute question-and-answer session with coffee and dessert on Sunday, September 15. We’ll meet at St Paul’s Family Room at 10am, and all are welcome. If you’d like more information, contact Mary Kral at the parish office or email [email protected].

According to one of our past group members who is now a host of this group, "This treasure is one of the best kept secrets of the Catholic Church!"

Yet for all the many different things that contribute to the heart beat of this faith community, we still maintain our perspective of who we are: the Body of Christ. Since we, as the Church, make up the Body of Christ we need to balance our active life with the contemplative life. Sometimes it’s easy to get carried away with a lot of activities but we must remember the wisdom of St. Benedict: ora et labora (pray and work). Through the great work that we do, let us contin-ue to pray for each other and for a spirit-enriched year!

Fr. Dan

Why Do We Do That?-Catholic Tradition Explained

Question: As Catholics, we talk a lot about "redemptive suffer-ing" and "carrying your cross." What does that mean practically in daily life?

Answer: When Jesus spoke these words, they would have sound-ed quite intense to his hearers. "Pick up your cross daily and fol-low me." At the time, Jesus hadn't yet been crucified. A cross was a Roman torture instrument. "Pick up the thing that tortures you the most," Jesus seemed to say. Unfortunately, most of us have no real shortage of these in our life. To take up the cross isn't to seek out new sufferings in our life. It's to accept the life we have.

Of course, unjust or unhealthy circumstances should be rectified when possible. But there are always circumstances that remain out of our immediate control. It could be pain management, the defiance of our teenage child, or an unhealthy work environ-ment... but you need the paycheck to pay the bills. In difficult cir-cumstances, it can be easier to blame, complain, or daydream our way out of it. None of these are real solutions, since none of them accept the reality of the situation at hand. Those options only add to our suffering, since they damage relationships, fixate on the problem, or set up unrealistic expectations.

Instead, Jesus invites us to take up our cross - to look at the un-comfortable situation square in the eyes, take a deep breath, and do our best to be present to God's grace in the moment. To love those in our path. To take things one step at a time. ©LPi

Sharing the Gospel With Kids

Love God more than yourself. This means you will give up some-thing you dearly love for him. When you have only one candy bar, God wants you to share it with your sister. When you have two pencils and two notebooks, God wants you to share with a student who has none. If your grand-mother and grandfather play games and read to you, God wants you to share them with children who have no grandparents.

Prayer Lord, help me share the things I prize most.

Francis Hall in the lower level St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish Center (elevator available)

W314N7462 State Rd 83, North Lake, WI 53064

Unplanned is the inspiring true story of one woman’s journey of transformation. All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Unplanned is the most important movie you’ll ever see on the most controversial issue of our time. No one will leave this film unmoved by Abby’s journey.

Please RSVP if you are interested in attending to the office at 966-2191. The movie is FREE. We need a count for how many seats to set up. But please come at the last minute! Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about “women’s health” and the abortion agenda. We will have refreshments available.

This movie is sponsored by the St. Teresa of Calcutta Respect Life Committee. This movie is rated “R” for graphic images.

Heavenly Father, Creator of All, You have created the human person as good. You have placed us in the world as one human family, as sisters and brothers. We pray today for all victims of violence across the world, for the healing of their mind and body, for their mourning family members, for the repose of their souls. Jesus, You have told us to love our enemies, and to pray for those who persecute us. Give us the strength and courage to forgive. Remove all lingering desire for revenge. Holy Spirit, reveal to us the mercy of God. Give us the gift of Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Amen.
