The answer to the second question takes a bit more time. Jesus tells a shocking story. The story is shocking because the Samaritans, who were descended from Jews who had intermarried with pagans, were hated by Jews. So, the good Samaritan looks after someone who despises him. After the story, Jesus poses a counter- question, which really changes the original question from “Who is my neighbor?” to “What is involved in my being a neighbor?” The reluctant answer is “The one who treated him with compassion.” And Jesus says, “Then go and do the same.” Life Focus 1. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, which of the four characters do you identify with? 2. Speak of a time when you felt second best or excluded. Who was or was not a Good Samaritan to you? 3. Who are the people in this world who couldn’t teach you a thing? 4. Tell of a time you were a good neighbor to a stranger. 5. Describe an occasion when you did not help a person who needed you. 6. When has a person you least expected shown you the way? 7. Who or when do you find it easy to pass by? Why? -Archdiocese of San Antonio San Antonio, Texas Patrick Okenyi, S. M. **Message from the Bishop regarding an important film coming to Sudbury

“Unplanned”, an anti-abortion American film, is scheduled to be shown in Sudbury from July 12 to July 18, at

Imagine Cinemas in the Rainbow Centre. This film is based on the memoirs of Abby Johnson who was one of the

greatest advocates for Planned Parenthood and the youngest director of a clinic in the USA, until she walked out

after assisting in the abortion of a 13-week-old fetus. What she saw changed her life. She is now one of the most

prominent pro-life activists.

This film was released widely in American theaters in March. It earned an A+ CinemaScore and No. 4 ranking at the

box office. It elicited strong reactions on both sides of the abortion issue debate.

The Bishop encourages parishioners of our Diocese to show their support for this important movie by seeing it

themselves and by encouraging other people to do so. You can watch the trailer on the following link:

PERFUME & SCENT ALERT!

A number of our parishioners are very sensitive to fragrances from perfumes, colognes & lotions. They can set off serious allergic reactions. We ask that people refrain from using them when coming to Masses so that all will feel welcome and safe. A small sacrifice for others! Thank you!
