Ladies of the parish, you are invited to attend a three-hour mini retreat, LISTENING WITH THE EAR OF YOUR HEART, that will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 9 AM-12 PM in Curran Hall. Listening with the ear of your heart is more than simply waiting for your turn to speak. It is an attitude of openness to God’s grace in all situations and a respect for God’s presence in every per-son. Using prayer and reflection, this retreat offers the op-portunity to participate in reflective listening as a gift and grace from God. Space is limited. Registration forms are located in the Narthex. Rooted-Couples Retreat Knights of Columbus Council #11862 invites you to our 2017 Couples Retreat: “Rooted "on October 20-22, 2017, at Camp Copass in Denton, Tx. FAJR Assembly BINGO Night - October 21 The 4

th Degree Knights of Columbus Fr. A. J. Ryan Assem-

bly will again host a bingo night at St. Michael on Saturday, October 21. The Curran Hall doors will open immediately after the conclusion of the 5:30 mass. Play is scheduled to begin at 7 PM. Come and enjoy bingo while supporting the Assembly’s charitable causes. Food, snacks, and refresh-ments will be sold during the event. Please note that State Law requires participants to be 18 years and older. Charity Fundraising Program - American Wheelchair Mission

Council 11862 continues to collect gently used shoes from the parish. All shoes are then sold to communities in devel-oping countries that would otherwise not afford shoes or have shoes at all. The fundraising program also helps sup-port the American Wheelchair Mission. For every $150 in funds received from the slightly worn shoes, the Council is able to donate one wheelchair for persons or families less fortunate and in need of mobility. Halloween Carnival

Our Halloween carnival will be Saturday, October 28, from 7-9 PM in Curran Hall. Candy donations and lots of cakes/cupcakes are needed for the cake walk. No gum, please. Please drop your donated bags of candy in the con-tainer located in the Narthex. The cakes/cupcakes may be delivered to the church on the morning of the carnival in Curran Hall. Also, we will again have Trunk or Treat in the parking lot behind the church. Please sign up to partici-pate!! Thank you!

Teen Volunteers

Parental consent and code of conduct forms are located in the Narthex for teens wanting to sign up to volunteer at St. Michael. Youth must also pick up a sheet listing the appro-priate/inappropriate behaviors. Teen volunteer ages are from 13-17. Fill and return the forms to Diane Salazar, Safe Environment Coordinator, in the Library. Upon completion and submission of their forms, your child’s photo will be taken for their ID badge. Safe Environment training will be held October 19 at 7 PM in the Library for new volunteers at St. Michael. Returning volunteers will be in room 110/120. You must be registered with St. Michael for six months to volunteer, and the ministry you will volunteer in must be a parish ministry. Questions? Pre-Baptismal Class

The next English and Spanish Pre-Baptismal class will be Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 7 PM. The English class will be in room 220; the Spanish class will be in room 110/120. 11th Annual Dallas Ministry Conference

St. Michael’s Music Ministry

Saint Michael’s Choir (Grade 9 to adult) is in need of mem-bers to join music ministry for upcoming masses and choral events. Saint Michael’s choir rehearses every Wednesday from 7-9 pm in the Sanctuary.

Saint Michael’s Music Ministry will also be forming two new vocal ensembles for our youth: Cherub Choir (Grades 4-6) Youth Choir (Grades 7-8)

Cherub Choir will meet Tuesdays from 5-5:45 PM in the Sanctuary starting October 17. Youth Choir will meet Wednesdays or Thursdays from 5-5:30 PM in the Sanctuary starting October 18 or 19.
