Mass Intentions

As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention.

Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information!

Stewardship and Development

Stewardship Thought: God’s salvation is not exclusive. After missionaries are sent to Gentile nations, the prophet Isaiah proclaims that even some pagan converts will be accepted into Israel’s priestly order of Levites. The Letter to the Hebrews reminds us that loving the Lord, and encouraging His love for us, requires discipline. In St. Luke’s Gospel, Jesus warns that eternal salvation is not a given. Those who become true disciples, even though they may not be the first to hear the Word, will be first in the Kingdom; those who are first to hear the Word but do not embrace it, will be last. God invites us all to the heavenly banquet via the narrow gate. Are we prepared to accept that invitation as we strive to embrace stewardship as a way of life?

Development Thought: Did you know you can give your home to our Parish and remain living in it for as long as you'd like? This type of gift is called a “life estate.” You receive many tax benefits and simplify your estate for your beneficiaries. You may also receive lifelong annuity payments by making such a gift, in some cases. Most of all, you will experience the joy of knowing you have made a significant gift to your Church. To learn more, contact the Office of Stewardship and Development at 800-332-9998, ext. 120.

Pro-Life Messages

Sandra Cano, the "Mary Doe" of the Doe vs. Bolton 1973 Supreme Court abortion decision, is a pro-life Christian. On March 23, 1997, she declared these memorable words: "I am Sandra Cano. I became known as Mary Doe when the U.S. Supreme Court released Roe v. Wade's companion decision, Doe v. Bolton, which allowed abortion for virtually any reason. I am against abortion; I never sought an abortion; I have never had an abortion. Abortion is murder. For over twenty years, and against my will, my name has been synonymous with abortion. The Doe v. Bolton case is based on deceit and fraud. I stand today in this place of healing, the National Memorial for the Unborn, and pledge to the memory of these innocent children, that as long as I have breath, I will strive to see abortion ended in America."

Carpeting Replacement

The carpeting on the main floor of St. Mary’s church has served the parish well for 30 years, but is overdue for replacement. In preparation for replacement, a number of parishioners have been asked to assist in choosing new carpeting.

Art’s Furniture has given us an estimate of $9100 to replace all carpeting on the main floor, including the sanctuary and entrance. Any contributions to defray the expense of replacement will be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE: The carpeting has ar r ived at Art’s! Unfortunately, it may be some time before it can be installed. It’s hoped that the work will be done by the First Sunday of Advent, December 1, 2013.
