In Father’s absence, I have been asked to write a weekly message in his normal space. This week’s message is about our Pastoral Council and the role the council plays in the life of the parish. On May 5th, during the 8:30 A.M. Mass, Father Ron installed the new members of the Parish Council: Dave Kradel, Mark Lepkowski, Sharon Mihalich, and John Zurisko. He also reaffirmed the continuing members: George Bender, Steve Brestensky, Beth Macurdy, and Jeff Polana. Father formally installed Judy Bergstrom as Recording Secretary and myself, Bridget Fogarty, as Facilitator of the Council. At this time, we would like to thank those parishioners who completed their service as members of the Coun-cil: Dave Posney who served as Facilitator for the past nine years and Marianne Sheehan. Thank you and God Bless you. You will be missed! Now you might be asking yourself, “What is the role of the Pastoral Council?”. The Parish Council is a consultative body that strives to discern the movement of the Holy Spirit among God's people in the parish. This Council provides help to the pastor in fostering pastoral activity; they investigate, under the authority of the pastor, all those items which pertain to pastoral works, to ponder them, and to propose practical conclusions regarding them. Council meetings occur in the context of prayer and openness to the Holy Spirit so that, at all times, the common good will prevail. Specifically, the Pastoral Council's purpose is to enhance the process of pastoral planning, developing pastoral programs, improving pastoral services, and evaluating the pastoral effectiveness of various programs and services. As representatives of the parish community, as a whole, YOUR input into our planning and evaluation is criti-cal. Please feel comfortable in approaching Fr. Ron, parish staff members, or any of the Council Members to suggest ways that we may enhance the life of the parishioners and the parish. Next week, we will recap the last pastoral council meeting. ~~Bridget Fogarty

Pew Preparations For New Padding

Because of your gi s in me, talent and treasure, those who have given to this year's Diocesan Lenten Appeal, the many hours of prepara on— you made possible the beau ca on of our pews with the new padding that will last for many years to come. So far, this year’s DLA has resulted in only 44% parishioner par cipa on. Last year, the total DLA resulted in 52% parish par cipa-

on. If you have not yet given, we ask that in these nal weeks you prayerfully consider giving a gi and/or pledge. From this point forward, 100% of all monies stay in our parish so that we can complete our remaining projects—new carpe ng and carport at the Cemetery Chapel. Again, may God bless all of our parishioners, those who have given, those who are unable to give, and those who are prayerfully considering a gi to this years campaign. Yours in Christ—Fr. Ron
