WE WELCOME

THROUGH THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Cori Elizabeth Gaylor

Happy Easter Season! Congratulations to all of our new Catholics who were baptized and received into the Church at the Easter Vigil, and to others who received the Sacrament of Confirmation and Marriage. We welcome you and encourage you to continue your study, prayer and growth in the Catholic faith, which is now your own. I want to thank all who made our Easter Triduum services and Masses so sacred and beautiful, especially our choir, cantors and musicians under the direction of our Music Director Mr. David Elliott. They have been working very hard over several weeks to help us give Glory to God with songs and instruments. Remember that St. Augustine said that “he who sings, prays twice.” Once again we thank the Mary Martha Guild for transforming our sanctuary and church to reflect the spirit of each celebration over these days. I am grateful for all of the time, effort and planning that went into this Holy Week as these ladies used their talents for God and to inspire us. Thanks also to our ministers in the sanctuary – sacristans, servers, lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and ushers that kept everything flowing so reverently and graciously, as is fitting for this sacred time. Our priests have been busy in the confessional preparing so many souls to enter into the mystery of our celebrations with broken halos mended and hearts renewed. Thank you Father Barnes and Father Andrew! And thanks to all of you for coming together in prayer during these days of Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Together we are St. Mary Catholic Church. We know we need the Church, but the Church also needs each one of us to be fully manifest as the living Body of Christ. As you know, Easter is such a great feast we extend it to a 50-day celebration that concludes at Pentecost, this year on May 15. Today we conclude the Octave of Easter with Divine Mercy Sunday. Please plan on attending our devotions (see page 3 of this bulletin) this afternoon to celebrate this great Feast. Some members of our 8th grade class and their families have been on a parish trip to Rome with Father Barnes for the past week and return tomorrow. They have been praying for us in the Ancient and Holy Shrines in Rome and elsewhere in Italy. Grazie a Dio!

Thanks to all who made our first annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Hooley so successful with over 450 folks attending and a great spirit. We raised close to $13,000 for our St. Vincent de Paul Society to help keep families in their homes. Pat Troy (with his wife Bernadette) did a wonderful job organizing the event, with many helpers. I am grateful to the Michael Collins Gaelic Football team, McLaughlin Ryder Investments, our parish St. Vincent de Paul Society and to Tom and Melinda Mooney of Murphy’s Pub for their assistance and incredible generosity.
