Happenings Power is in Serving
When we were children, the athletes and those most advanced would pick the people for their teams. Logically, they always picked the strongest, most agile or those who had better strategies. Some-thing similar happens in most fields of human activity. The most competent people are chosen for jobs, since they are proven to posses greater intelligence or skill in something. God, however, does not choose in this way. It is always surprising that he seeks the most unex-pected to carry out his work. Or rather, what is surprising that he seeks the most unexpected to carry out his work. Or rather, what is surprising is that he opens his mission to all...except those whose riches have them so enslaved that they are incapable of thinking of others. And by riches, Jesus means not only money, but the conviction of having power, of being sure that you have the exclusivity on truth. These attitudes, which indicate a hold on any area of power or dominance, have no place in the kingdom of God. In other words, those who think or believe this way do not have the ability to enter because they are too wrapped up in themselves. If you are wrapped up in something, it is best to remove it and throw it out. And these constraints can be just as much a sense of arrogance, as well as an erroneous sense of humility that fails to recognize the work of God. This is why today those who believe that they are poor, powerless, and inferior are invited to also come out of this slavery. If God calls everyone, nothing and no one can stop us from getting closer to God, to do his works, and serve in the style of Jesus.
For Reflection What things prevent you from serving Christ the way he wants to be served? Do you sometimes consider that you are too big or too small? Do you realize that these two extremes mean to deny God’s actions in you?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
