Update Skoolbag App All parents are encouraged to have the Skoolbag App, as this will be the main preference for communication to all parents. Administration Change of Details If you have moved house or changed your contact details during the holidays, please notify the school office as soon as possible to update your details in case of an emergency. Friendly Reminder Parents and all guardians are reminded that we aim for school to be a safe place for students, parents and all in our community. It is important StMM’s staff deal with all school matters. We ask that concerns go directly to the teacher or to the office. This is a gentle reminder that no parent may approach a student about problems or concerns. Thank you for your attention and support in this matter. Car Pick Up StMM’s Car Pick Uup is a service run by the staff to ensure the safety of students at dismissal time. It is completely voluntary and needs all parties playing their role. A small number of students are not following all the procedures as outlined in the previous bulletin. It is important that all children follow these instructions and we would ask parents who use the service to reinforce these procedures. Mr Mills may stop a child from accessing Car Pick Up if they are unable to support the expectations of this service. March Attendance Month A major learning and pastoral focus of St Margaret Mary’s each year is making sure that every student is at school every school day. In 2017 we had decided to have MARCH as our Attendance Month. During March, Personal Growth Awards will be presented to all students who obtain a 95% or more attendance rate. Following on from this program we will be addressing, in partner- ship with the CEDP, any students who fall below a certain level. Our aim for 2017 is to be 5% above the Diocesan level. (StMM’s was 3% above the Diocese in 2016). School Diary All students in Yrs 4, 5 and 6 are asked to read the bulletin and note essential dates and happenings in their dairy. This basic skill of “being responsible” is needed for high school if they are to be successful. Please ensure your child has read the bulletin and recorded all the important information in their diary. Parent Education Meeting On Tuesday, 7 th March, we invite you to attend parent education meetings in your child’s grade. We will run two time-slots and you may choose which one you wish to attend. The time-slots are: Session 1: 4 – 5pm Session 2: 6 – 7pm. (This is a repeat of Session 1) Your grade teachers will meet with you as one group, to inform you of different elements occurring in 2017 for your child. We look forward to seeing you at one of the above mentioned times. It is not a requirement that students come to this meeting. Partnership

The Cumberland Zone Swimming Carnival

“GO ST MARGARET MARY'S!”

the crowd cheered as the swimmers

dived into the crystal blue water. On

the 14th February, the selected

swimmers from St Margaret Mary’s

travelled by bus to the Cumberland

Zone Swimming Carnival, which

was held at Parramatta Pools. The students

that went had qualified for

multiple races which

included Butterfly, Back-

stroke, Breaststroke and

Freestyle. They competed

against a number of

schools in the Parramatta Diocese. Congratu-

lations to Nicholas Tan (Year Six), Salome Blandon Cano (Year

Six) and Isabella Blandon Cano (Year Three) who qualified for

the Diocesan Carnival. Nicholas also received a trophy and was

awarded 11 Years Boy Swimming

Champion. Thank you to all the

parents who volunteered to help out

and supported our students. Also a

special thank you to Mrs Foley for

organising and accompanying us

throughout the carnival. By: Salome Blandon Cano, Angelina Georges and Grace

Neculman (Year Six)

Monday Morning Assembly Ready for a new week of learning and challeng-

es, our school community gathered together for

our regular Monday Morning Assembly which

consists of our School Prayer, singing of our

National Anthem, the raising of the Australian

flag and general information regarding the week at school.

We congratulated our StMM’s swimming team for their efforts

and good sportsmanship at the Cumberland Zone Swimming

Carnival. We also acknowledged and congratulated Nicholas Tan,

Salome Blandon Cano and Isabella Blandon Cano for progressing

to the next level, competing at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival

at Blacktown.

We were also reminded: to keep up to date with our reading

folders; that the Four Pillar Awards will be given out at the end of

the week; that whatever toys/cards etc. we bring to school we

need to take home without swapping or trading; and if we bring

balls to school to play with we need to carry them in a bag.

StMM’s parents were commended on doing an awesome job at

listening during our

assemblies and were

warmly invited to

continue to attend

them. By Jacob Mifsud, Rachael
